What character both in "Buffy" and "Angel" did you feel sorry for the most?

Which character in both Buffy and Angel did you feel sorry for the most?

Angel
Cordelia; she was just this rich shallow popular girl in Sunnydale then once she graduated from high school she had nowhere to go when she went to LA she was somewhat homeless had nothing to eat. Idk why she didn't just stay in Sunnydale and be apart of the Scooby Gang? Then she joined Angel Investigations lost her future lover (Doyle) in "Hero", then he gave her the visions then a former TPTB member hijacked her while Cordy was up in the Heavens and now Cordy's dead.
 
I felt bad for Angel and Buffy the most. I could write a lot on it but I don't have much time now so I'll just say that the reasons are pretty obvious! 😛
 
That is a very tough question. I've felt sorry for almost every character at some point. Cordy had to endure the torturous visions for quite a while. Willow lost Tara and went evil. Angel had to live a life of redemption for his demon ways and can't be with his true love. Buffy had the responsibility of the Slayer and dying, twice. The list could go on....but that's the way of Joss. Knock em down and build em back up.
 
Angel
Wesley. He has been pretty much ridiculed and disrespected his whole life; by his father, the council, the Scoobies, etc. The cost of gaining respect seems to come at the price of his happiness. He becomes a much darker person, is tricked into betraying his friends, and most of his friends die in the end.

Buffy
Dawn. She was also babied and treated like she was 6 years old. It seemed like everyone ignored the fact that the Scoobies were her age when they got involved in the supernatural world.

Angel. He was turned into a demon, lives a life with the burden of his souless sins, lost his family and friends, can't experience pure happiness with out losing his soul, can't be with his true love Buffy, had his son kidnapped and missed his entire childhood, and has a long road full of the same ahead of him.

Giles. Jenny was killed by Angel. Then he was.
 
Drusilla, first she had the visions, the her family were killed, she was tortured, then turned into a vampire.
 
On Buffy, Spike. Because no matter what, he always comes out a loser. He was a loser when human, then overshadowed by Angelus, then losing his minions who then had no respect for him and wanted him dead; Buffy always beats him and humiliates him, her friends treat him like crap even when he helps them, Drusilla had also treated him like crap; Angel stole Dru from him; He gets the Ring of Amarah but loses it; He gets caught by the Initiative and gets chipped and now cannot feed unless he buys the blood from the butcher; Buffy uses him as a sex slave; When he regains his soul he goes crazy and hits himself.
In the end he dies as a hero, but the fact that he gets an amulet that pretty much kills him, also makes him a little bit of a loser. Hero loser, but still a loser.
No matter in what form - human, vampire, souless, soulful, evil, in love... he's always a loser. Can't Joss ever go easy on him??
 
I felt sorry for Wesley :
- When Angel tried to "kill" him in the hospital. You know? With the pillow.
- When Fred died...
 
Fred.
She was sucked into a portal that spit her out in a dimension that treated humans as slaves, where she had to hide out because sometimes those slaves were sacrificed. When she gets saved by Angel, he immediately leaves because he finds out the love of his life died, and her only new tie to the world is gone. So when he comes back, she starts to feel a bit in her element, until she almost gets sent back to another dimension by her idol, her old professor, whom her boyfriend kills so she wouldn't have to. Then, she questions her relationship with someone who could kill another human so easily, and ends it. The savior of her hell in Pylea then loses his soul and is released and wants to kill her and her friends, and after the soul is returned, the world is enamored by a Peace-demon who kills for utopia. When she finds out, she has to go on the run or risk being killed by the same Christ-like figure she just thought was a savior. After the demon is killed, she is given chance to run her own division at Wolfram & Hart, which ultimately bites her in the ass when a sarcophagus for her to examine ends up spewing particles of an ancient demon into her body, which slowly destroy her and her soul so the demon can take over her body. And this happens right after she and her true love finally get together.

The phrase true love has been thrown around a lot in this thread. What about all the people who never even found true love at all. Like, for instance, Harmony.
 
Spike on both shows. He didn't fit in with either group really (not at least until the very end of Angel), he was the misfit of the misfits.
 
I felt horrible for Wesley a lot of time. In BtVS, he was so disrepected and mocked and no one ever really gave him a real chance to fit in and be part of the gang.
Then on "Angel", we saw so many hints of what a sad childhood he had, and how hard his dad was on him, not to mention how bad he got screwed with the whole Fred situation.
 
Everyone suffered, it's a Joss Whedon show after all. But I've always felt sorry for Buffy the most. We all know what she's been through, so a rehash isn't necessary, but just knowing that every day just might be your last is hard. I also feel sorry for her the most because I relate to her the most (besides Oz, of course). Sometimes I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. People expect so much from me, and have such big plans for me, when all I want to do is eat pizza and watch Skinamax. 😛 Everyday I fight my demons, whether I like it or not. Some are scary, and some are so ridiculous that you can't help but wonder why am I taking this too seriously! But at the end of the day you never really win. You just live another day. Sometimes just waking up is hard......and I realize I'm swerving a little bit to the off topic part of the road, but Buffy is a character that I relate to, that I feel sorry for, and that I root for.

On BtVS it was Buffy. I suffered with her, ugh.

On AtS it was Wesley. Poor dude went through hell.

I felt bad for Buffy the most on Buffy, and for Angel the most on Angel...haha.

Her friends were such assholes to her at times. I won't even get into it because whenever I hear the words "empty" and "places" and the same damn sentence I feel as if I may start hemorrhaging. I can't get into ugh there are just too many things to say.

As for Angel, all of the bad crap that happened to him on his show became comical after awhile haha but I still felt so bad for him. Whenever anyone brings up season 3 I literally have to grab my stuffed pig and scream, "Baby Connor!!!!"

As someone else brought up, there are too many damn people on this show who deserve sympathy. I connected with Buffy and Angel the most. Which is strange, because I used to hate Angel back in the day, and sometimes I want to shoot Buffy in the face. Oh, I love them.
