What did Angelus mean to W & H?

Was thinking about W& H, Angel and Apocolypses and the like.
Now, all through Ats, like when Lindsey wanted to have Angel killed, the bosses(Holland, Linfeild) have always said no we cant kill him, and they tried a few times to have his soul taken away so he'd be Angelus and take their side in the apocolypse. Now what im wondering is, why? Angel was a major thorn in W& H side, and would have saved them alot of hassle to just have him killed. But they were willing to risk it just because he might be on they're side come the apocolypse, did we ever find out just exactly why they needed him soooooooooooo bad? was he their equivalent of Jesus or something?
Unless he's super man, i just cant see why he was that important to them, after all, he was just a vampire!: erm :
 
He must have meant something important to W&H. I've just finished watching all the seasons of Angel again and like you say, they don't want to 'risk' killing him. I don't know, maybe they just had an Angel fetish, I can't think of anything smart or clever to say tonight as I'm a little, how should I put it, 'intoxicated'.. I'll get back to you tomorrow..
 
Well since Angel is a major player in "THE apocalypse"(im guessing thats like the final battle or something) and WR&H wanted there apocalypse to be THE apocalypse so having a known major player on your side would verify that your apocalypse is THE apocalypse... I hope that makes sense I'm kinda doing my homework at the same time as posting lol
 
To me it just didnt seem like the Ancient, all Powerful Wolf Ram & Hart would really even NEED Angelus.

...except that it really wasn't THE apocalypse, since that is supposed to be the "final battle," where the unnamed Slayer and all of her friends finally force all of the supernatural forces out of our dimension and into some other one, presumably where they can no longer harm anyone. Certainly the Senior Partners wanted to control, or at least manipulate, Angel. I seriously doubt that they wanted to have any dealings with Angelus because he proved time and again that he doesn't play on anyone else's team, regardless of how powerful they might be.


It was Angel that the Senior Partners manipulated into bringing about their apocalypse, if that's what it really was, that sent Los Angeles exactly where they wanted it in the first place: hell. Sure, Angel believed that he was "taking a stand" against Wolfram & Hart by destroying the Circle Of The Black Thorn but that "stand" accomplished exactly what the Senior Partners wanted all along. In the end, Angel, not Angelus, was the catalyst that fulfilled Wolfram & Hart's plans.
 
Angel has a videotape of one of the senior partners in a compromising position with a sloth demon, and upon Angel's death the video and hundreds of copies will be sent to... All the senior partners pub buddies.


The truth is, the senior partners could easily kill Angel and bring him back, ala Darla style. I think pretty much every reason is crap, and the writers just had no good reason why they didn't just crush Angel like the bug he was.

Before season 5 I had a theory about the Senior Partners, and their place within the show. I thought they were keeping Angel alive to keep balance... or something. Cos if there's no good in the world then the evil will crush and overcome everything, and all there will be is evil so how is WR & H supposed to make any Money??

Or, the senior partners were once a buncha chumps, so they know that pretty much anybody can rise from nothing to become this all poweful force. With Angel around he's keeping down the competition. He's nipping the evil in the bud before it flourishes into a massive WR & H asskicking.

The actual reason that is explained, or implied in the show, I think, is a bit gay.
 
Cause according to the Shanshu Prophecy, the vampire with the soul (so Angel and not Angelus) plays a mayor battle in the apocalypse. (The one W&H seems to be interested in.) In the latest issue of AtF we found out that
the role he will be awarded for is one fought out on the side of evil; he'll be killing a lot of humans and as a reward/punishment will be turned into one
.
 
Perhaps W&H had a hand in Angelus becoming Angel in the first place - who's to say that the gypsies that cursed Angelus were not W&H employees or influenced by W&H in some way - as we know, W&H were around when Illyria was a major player prior to being boxed up.

W&H's seers might have foreseen Angelus' rise as the most violent, evil, malevolent vampire in history in advance and decided that they needed him, not for his part in the final Apocalypse, but because they wanted him to be their tool - the instrument though which they could do as much damage as possible.

That's an easy one slick willie.. because WRH were NOT all powerful; that was established with the whole Black Thorn thing (and having a bunch of lawyers to work for you). They wanted Angellus in, and to lead, the Black Thorn. He was to be their head boy.

Think multi-dimensional evil watchers council and I think that is really what the senior partners were. They relied on lackeys to do their will.

I always thought it was about Angel not Angelus. All the prophecies talk about the vampire with a soul. As White Avenger said, Angelus wouldn't be a good ally as he doesn't play well with others. Don't listen to Lilah when she said that the firm wanted Angelus. She's great, cunning and very sexy but wrong.
