What did BB bring you?

for me its made me think about the shows in different ways, notice things that I hadn't seen before. I can't discuss any of this IRL so this is great for me. Also fanart, I'd seen it before, but had never thought about attempting it. Here I saw how encouraging everyone is, read through a tutorial and tried it, now I'm hooked.

I've met some beautiful people, been able to express my opinions well, feel like I've been welcomed into a unique, wonderful community and am really, really grateful I stumbled upon this site 🙂

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Darla, without whom it wouldn't be possible.

BB brought me friends and other people who like/love The Whedonverse. Its nice to have friends and a place like BB to talk to about Buffy The Vampire Slayer (etc)

😀

Buffy Boards brought me a bunch of amazing people and friends.

It's great to have a place where you can listen to other people's opinions.

Without this place, I'd be lost when it comes to talking about Buffy or Angel or any other Whedonverse Show.

This place gave me VH, too, which is a completely awesome dorm and you know it 😀

This is a great and wonderful community that I'm happy I came across 🙂

Since no one of my friends watches the Show, I figured it would be best to join some Buffy the Vampire Slayer online forum.
I finally could talk to someone about the show, say what I think about different things.
I also met a lot of nice people! I haven't experienced any fights so far and everyone has been really nice!
Thank you guys very much for this place!

I've been posting on message boards (mostly political ones, but also the official Fox forum for "24") since the mid-90's, so most of what I've learned from message boards has occurred on other boards. Mostly, what I've learned (over time, and through some very difficult lessons) is that I was too dismissive of other people's opinions that I disagreed with, and especially if I couldn't come to an understanding of that opinion. I'm a little better now, though still nowhere near perfect, at respecting other points of view and being compassionate about the fact that we are all individuals with our own way of looking at things. I think my progress in that respect has been huge, but I've a ways to go yet. 🙂

As far as BB itself, whenever I mention "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" IRL everyone just laughs. I know nobody IRL who even watches the show, let alone likes it. So it's wonderful to have a place to discuss my favorite show -- a show which I only just discovered by pure fortuity last September.

Since Buffy is where I feel comfy, where I can express myself through, thinking about all the time... BB is mostly about Buffy. So how could I not feel good here. So it mostly brought me comfiness as a home, because Buffy is compared to home in my heart. I really enjoy debates, and I think like the OP said, it brought confidence. My confidence though didn't start from this forum. But I used to be a very shy girl, who took acting classes and then took also a job that required contacting with people, so it brought up my confidence a little. But I still wasn't too brave to say what I think. And that's what BB did to me. Has made my confidence rise way up. I've become out spoken, I say what I think, and don't afraid of it. Because I know not all people would agree with me about stuff, and that's okay. Because I'm not that shy girl anymore, who used to be afraid to speak and be scolded. It has affected me in other areas, inside and outside the net.

Also, and I'm so thankful for that, before I read what other people think about stuff from Buffy, at many topics, I was clueless about many things while watching the show. Now that I read what people's views are, it opened my eyes a little, and enriched my Buffy world so much. I'm talking about all the theories, things I've never even thought about. I feel more smart, Buffy-wise, because of all the opinions here. And it made me love Buffy even more!

I haven't really been actively posting for all that long but I've noticed that since I started posting here regularly I have a much easier time talking in a lot of on-line settings.

I used to be uncomfortable commenting on anything in DeviantArt and now people would probably pay to get me to shut up.

It's, of course, really nice to talk to other people that love and respect this show the way that I do as well. I do know people in real life that love the show but even they get sick of talking about it. Crazy people. 😀

I think it's brought me a sense of community and belonging... maybe that sounds strange...but there's something really -um- binding (I'm not sure if that's the word I want) about buffy love...

also, you guys give me new ways of looking at things and I love that.
