What didn't you like about Btvs/Ats?

I didn't like some of the monsters because they are so often ridiculous and often you see where the costume nds and the actor appears. And I hated Mrs. Welsh. don't really know why. Maybe because she remembers me to much at my teachers at school. 😀

Corny monsters...
I didn't like some of the unexplained plotholes and inconsistencies. And I really didn't like the whole Buffy/Spike relationship in later seasons. I think it degraded the Buffy character a lot.

I personally loved their development in later seasons. I don't think it degraded her, (well of course she felt that way) but it just made her more human, and more relatable (to me).

- Kennedy
- Bangel
- The comics
- Angel in general
- The title (people judge it because it has "vampire" in it)

I have trouble telling people that I've fallen in love with this show becasue they just start laughing when they hear the title.
With Buffy, I really didn't like how far apart everyone grew after they got boyfriends/girlfriends. Yes it sort of imitates real life, but before Xander found Anya, Willow found Tara and Buffy found, well Dawn, the core four were a lot closer and it hurt to see them still love each other but drift apart after high school.

Angel is kind of the opposite, the core characters, or what I consider to be the core characters (Angel, Fred, Cordy, Wes, Gunn and Lorne) didn't really gel until the third season but due to various plot developments (Wes and Gunn's rivalry over Fred, Cordy's ascension and later possession, Angel's baby drama) the marvelous team never lasted quite long enough to cement their friendship in quite the way the Scoobies had weren't as bonded as we briefly saw them(which is a shame because I think they had the potential to outshine the Scoobies) and knew they could be if circumstances were different.

I did not like how certain things, mostly in the first two seasons of Buffy, were never answered. I guess at the time Joss did not know if the show would be continuing or not.
I also dislike Warren, a lot. I was cool with him and his robot girl friend, but he was just way way to crazy. I feel though BtVS could have gone better if Warren had not been brought back.

Certain things like what weren't explained in the first two seasons?

I think she meant that some stuff were left hanging, with the writers never bringing them again. Like the eggs in the closet at the end of 'Teacher's Pet'. Or Marcie being brought by the FBI to a special class where other invisible people work as assassins and spies. Even Amy's mom getting stuck in that statue to some extent.

As for the topic at hand... Obviously I didn't like Angel ending that soon. Unlike Buffy, the story wasn't done. More had to be told and explained. Add to that the death of two characters I won't name, in S5... Who shouldn't have died AT ALL... Yea... Now, as far as BtVS is concerned, I hated the potentials storyline in S7, and how they crapped on Giles' character in the last two seasons. Ughhh! Also way too much Spuffy in S7, took over some needed CORE FOUR action in the freaking LAST season of the show. Oh and S7 as a whole I'm not a big fan of, 'cept the last stretch was okay. 🙂

Oh ok. I just assumed things like that were purposely left open ended. Kind of like how they did Normal Again in S6.

I agree with your choices about Angel and Buffy season 7. Angel deserved at least one more season imo & the potentials storyline seemed like it could have been interesting & the message they used with the final speech was great, but I wish they never existed. I dont think season 6 ruined Giles character but I think for the final season he should have played a much bigger role than he did, but then again that goes for everyone in S7 who wasn't Buffy or Spike.

A couple big things off the top of my head...

BtVS

- Season 7 sucked. Seriously, terrible. It's like eating stale bread...with mold.
- Giles and Xander suck in later seasons. Xander: "I don't do anything...but I can still make jokes!". Giles: "I know you were just resurrected and all Buffy...but I think i'm gonna leave at the worst possible moment".

Angel

- Why did Cordelia get written out of the show. You suck Joss.
- Angel getting cancelled (amazing finale though), they had so many more stories to tell...
- Connor/Cordelia sex. I always wanted to see Cordelia have a sex scene...but not like this lol
- WHY DID YOU KILL DOYLE, HE WAS FRICKIN AWESOME!

I agree the cordelia and connor romance sucked, except ill give reasons for some character deaths. He made Giles leave cuz the actor had to go, and same with charisma carpenter. Glenn Quinn was fired due to drug problems as well

the biggest thing i hate about the show is the episode normal again from season 6, it ruined a lot for me. otherwise i like the corny monsters, loose ends, and sometimes dark plot lines. although i do dislike the comics

- Plot inconsistencies (especially the sudden change of magic from a good thing to drug-like)
- I hated that Buffy had to/did change networks and there was not as much cross-over as numerous plots called for (w/Ats)
- Dawn (I really like the actress, but...)
- Double standards/hypocrisy
- OOC stuff
- i HATED what they did to Buffy & Giles in season 7
- Kennedy
- S7 focusing more on potentials than the core 4
- I love Spike, but turning him into what they did in S4 was just wrong to me
- i have to agree on the killing off of so many characters

- Inconsistencies with the vampire mythology. (Spike and Harmony)
- The lack of Scoobies in season 7.
- The potentials.
- Dawn.
- The way they handled the Cangel relationship; I wish they would have kept them as friends or actually allowed them to be together. The not-really-together-but-in-love story drove me nuts. Also, Groo could have left sooner, maybe that would have helped them make a decision sooner.
- Wesley kidnapping Connor.

I am going to refrain...from calling anyone names. You are all entitled to your opinion.

Oh man.

- Anywho...there are things that I did not like. They are mostly subtle. For example, I wish that Xander would have faced the consequences of lying to Buffy about Angel in season 2. Well, for not telling her that Willow was trying to restore his soul.

- I hated that baby Connor was kidnapped on Angel. I didn't like teenage Connor. He was annoying as hell. I don't know if I can ever watch Sleep Tight ever again. I literally screamed and flailed around. It was, however, a lovely episode. Lovely in the fact that no show has ever caused me to become so frustrated. I almost through my beloved stuffed pig at the television. Almost.

- Cordelia. Cordelia.Cordelia.Cordelia. I didn't like that her character was assassinated. I didn't like the Jasmine crap...but at the same time I did. It felt so wrong and disturbing, so naturally, I enjoyed it. But it didn't need to happen.

- Cowboy Lindsey. What the hell. What happened to that guy?

Honestly, there is nothing about Buffy, that I'd change. Nothing. I was too young when I first watched it, and back then I accepted ANYTHING. The most ridiculous stuff. Sure, Beer Bad was pretty stupid...but I love it. I love every single episode, every single character, even stupid Kennedy who I kind of, sort of, hate. Buffy has been there since...forever. I'm not saying, "I dislike NOTHING about Buffy, so I am the truest fan!" There are things that make me cringe, roll my eyes, lose consciousness for about .5 seconds, but I love that damn show. Faults and all. There is just nothing that I'd change. I wasn't even a huge fan of season 6 and I love it. Buffy is my favorite show, and I need it all!

I even need Buffy getting thrown out in...Empty.Places.😡

However, I clearly wouldn't mind if some things in Angel...simply hadn't happened. I finished that a few months ago. It's strange. I guess it's like, when you see a stupid childhood movie again as an "adult" you accept all of it's faults and you love every single thing about it because it brings back memories. But if I saw that same movie for the first time now, I would be super critical about it.

It's not that I'm not critical of Buffy, it's just...there are all of things that might not make sense or that piss me off, but I love those things. I love to complain about them, but I'm glad that they happened. Even though season 7 had it's crap moments, I could never, ever imagine wishing that Buffy had ended earlier. Ya know?

*edit...I really thought the question asked what we'd change. Whatever. I wrote all of that, and it's staying.

🙂
