Just found this and thought that it was worth sharing. No political commentary or personal judgement, just an interesting bit of trivia:

I heard rumours that Obama is considering stand-up. What do you do after you have been a prime minister or president? It is the highest level of political power you can achieve.
 
They filmed this when he was President, and I remember Bear Grylls being interviewed and they were like "What was it like being in the wild, alone, with President Obama?" and Bear Grylls just replied that with all the secret service around, they were actually not allowed to be alone at any point, because this was the most powerful man in the world and the President is never left alone, or some words to that effect. 😱

I've never seen the full episode but I'm intrigued to watch it.

Take a break.
Then get a well-paid job from the people/corporations you promised the voters you were going to deal with because you said you 'care' about the interest of the little people.

It seemed perfectly brutally honest! Have you seen House of Cards? This show really accurately portrays your view on politics 😛

Live off the taxpayers, drawing a retirement pension that is the envy of many C E O's, enjoying full Secret Service protection for themselves, their spouses, and all of their children, and give short, usually pointless, speeches for astronomical fees. Then, in their spare time, they call in all of the favors that you granted to various people of power, foreign and domestic, they you were in office. And, of course, there are book deals, TV appearances, "technical advisor" gigs for astronomical fees, and setting up tax free foundations that provide assistance to needy groups on a pay for play basis.

And, no, I'm not talking about any specific exPOTUS or ex First Lady. They ALL do most, if not all, of that.

(I'm not cynical, just old, tired, and fed up with politics and career politicians)

There are definitely plenty who have done that indeed. In the Netherlands our ex-prime ministers just usually fade into nothingness and then 10 years later they make a random TV appearance. Power differences I guess.
 
They mostly pop up and make random speeches for huge fees. Some play golf, cheat on their wives, or play dress up with their Secret Service detail...fishnets and leather. 😀
