I have seen multiple posts on several boards that refer to hands or clasped hands as a metaphore for something that is so obvious that the posters don't explain it.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing?

Im missing it too, and never got the two by two hands of blue either. Why did they have blue hands?

I think it doesn't have to be complicated. It can mean the same thing it means to the characters on an emotional and relationship level, like friendship, love, support. However, it's hard to tell what the posts on boards meant without seeing the posts.

I just figured it was some kind of weird doctors, wearing blue gloves, ready to sanitise River back to her clean slate brain to forget anything she'd learnt.

Was the clasped hands the claddagh? I think Buffy got a claddagh ring in either season one or season two.

What comes to mind of course is Buffy holding Spike’s burning hand in “Chosen,” but not sure what the significance of it is beyond the obvious, or if they is a trend in the show.
