What do you believe in?

I can appreciate some of the points your making, freedom is very important. However, socialist here, so I don't agree with the political points you were making 😉 I think people are products of their context though. I live in Sweden, a country where socialist democrats have had a huge influence on how the country was built up. The importance of government trust and solidarity (among other things we pay 30 % taxes) is something I'm raised with. How do you view that - do you think your upbringing/living in the country you live in has made you rate freedom the highest? Would be interesting to hear, I love talking about those sort of stuff!

I'm not sure it has much to do with where I live. I'm from Canada, where we also have very high taxes, and lots of social programs (education, health care, etc), so I also am surrounded by big government. Still, there's something about it that irritates me. I feel that money could be much more effectively and efficiently spent if everything wasn't so centralized. I do understand socialist points of view, as pretty much my entire family believes in them, and for a long time I did too. It's a matter of liberty vs. quality of life - to me, liberty is more important, since I believe quality of life is meaningless if you're not free. Still, it's not hard to see points from the other side.

EDIT: I'm sure the Daily show videos were funny, but unfortunately comedy central doesn't allow people in Canada to view their content...
