What do you do on the holidays?

It's not such a big deal for my family anymore, but on Christmas morning we wake up pretty early, and unwrap our presents one by one (person, not present, i.e. mum goes first or something!)

Then late morning my dad goes and gets my grandma, we sit down to dinner, get a bit tipsy.

Then my dad will normally drive me to my boyfriends at about 8/9ish and drop my gran off, I'll stay there for a couple of hours, get a taxi home, end of day.

Pretty boring really :/

I only have a really small family though.

Not sure now I'm older. Used to spend christmas eve with my grandmother but since she died I've not really had the heart to do anything for it aside from drink mulled wine and heckle the Nine Lessons and Carols service on the TV (more fun than it sounds!). On christmas day my family usually get up early, have some posh Italian coffee and some breakfast and then open our presents. We wrap the dog's presents up as well as she likes to unwrap them herself, it's the highlight of my christmas, it's so adorable. But it's a bit different this year because my sister won't arrive until midday so we have to wait for our presents (not thrilled about that).

As for the rest of the holidays I'll be studying and watching rubbish TV, then going out for a friend's birthday. I doubt I'll be doing anything for new years as my friends are being stupid and leaving it until the last minute to get something sorted. Just glad to be home though.

When I was young, all my mom's side of the family got together at my Gran's house and we had a huge meal and then sat around the table playing games like Pictionary and Yahtzee as a family.
Now that we're older and all the grandkids have kids of their own, no one has a house big enough to contain us all, so we all pretty much do our own thing. This year, my mom, dad, sister, and brother and my sister's kids will come to our house and we will have a big meal, open presents, and then play games. 🙂

I just hang out with the family. Christmas is still my favorite time of year (I'm still such a little child on the inside.) Wake up, open presents, and spend the whole day just hanging out, eating good food and messing around with whatever new stuff I get 😀

Some years in the past we may have gone over to grandmas house or something, but a lot of people have passed over the years so now if there's any gathering it's usually at our house and there's not many people coming. This year I think some family is coming over on New Years Day, and Christmas is just going to be me my bro and my parents like it has been for the past few years 🙂

I think I am a little child inside too!
This year we are having christmas brunch at Mums place with my sisters and mums partners family, then I might go to the beach depending on how much I drink.

Then we have a big arvo dinner at my step-aunts place with my Dad and stepfamily. There are like 25 of them so it gets pretty wild. They are encouraging me to drink and sleep the night there this year. Im not sure how I will go with that, usually I leave pretty early but they are dead keen to get me smashed this year lol. And they have a pool...

Its always hot and sticky but this year they are predicting it to be a bit cooler so I am not dreading it so much this year. Its no fun driving up the hills in the heat of the day with no aircon in the car.

First of all I'm taking 2 weeks off so by next Monday I won't have to go to work until the New Year. Once my holiday is in full swing it will be a lot of visits to my friends, but as for what I'm actually doing over Christmas, I don't know yet. I like to see how it goes.

My family always goes overseas to ski for the Christmas holidays.

So long as the snow does not happen we will be celebrating my daughter's birthday on Tuesday. Friday my brother and his wife are coming up here till Christmas day then when they go my daughter's dad will be joining us. ON the 30th and 31st my step-dad and his partner will be here. Then I'll be drinking and I'll be online for the evening of the 31st!!!!

I'm taking the week after Christmas off. The cool thing is, the way my work schedule goes, I can get 11 days off (Dec. 23 - Jan. 2) by only taking 3 vacation days.

My brother, his wife, and their 2 sons (ages 11 and 8) are coming up from Virginia for Christmas on the 23rd and probably staying for several days. We'll probably do some day trips and stuff. Unfortunately, they will not get to see a white Christmas this year as it's too warm here.

Well this holidays I will eat much of candys, laying in my bed watching BTVS and Angel, go out with friends and do something for school. Maybe I will start creating my own Banner or do some other "holiday" stuff!

Usually, we go down to Columbia, Missouri to celebrate Christmas with my stepmom's brother on Christmas eve or sometime around Christmas. I spend the night at my mother's on Christmas Eve. The morning & early afternoon, I spend time with my mom & her family. Then I go back to my dad's house. We usually celebrate with my dad & stepmom and stepbrothers.

Oh Christmas is exhausting. I start off with my family Christmas Eve party for Dad's side of the family. We're there until about 9-10, and then we go to my person's dad's family's Christmas Eve party. There are small children, so it's actually fun to watch them open gifts. Then on Christmas, we go to my Gramma's on Mom's side and have a big meal and open gifts, the whole nine yards. THEN, I go to my person's Mom's side's party. Open gifts, maybe eat something else, all that jazz.

So, I have 4 Christmases to go to. By the end, I'm exhausted and glad it's over!

We have a little tradition every year.

On Christmas Eve, we watch The Polar Express (we never watch that movie any other time of the year) and we eat a bunch of chocolates and stuff. Then, we always open our Aunt's presents that she mails us on Christmas Eve.

Then on Christmas we wake up fairly early (now that I'm older, I don't usually wake up at 6AM to wake the rest of the house anymore 😛), and if my Mom wakes up before my sister and I, she'll go out and get hot chocolates for us to wake up to. Then we open our presents, and then my Mom makes breakfast and cinnamon buns. Then around lunch my Mom starts the turkey and we just spend the day playing with our presents and stuff. We have Christmas dinner, then we watch some movies (usually ones we got as gifts) and then bed.

This year is going to be a little different for me.

I am actually going to a family reunion of my husband's family. We'll be out there for four days including Christmas Eve and Christmas.

It'll be my first year not seeing my mom and kid sis on Christmas so I'm not sure how I feel about it.

That said, I am excited to see some people I haven't seen in years and I do really love my in-laws. I lucked out there. 😀

I'm sure it'll be a great time.

Well, my Christmas routine has certainly changed from when I was a kid. These days I start off by gathering together a list of what those closest to me want, then gather it all together. Prior to Christmas Eve I go visit my girlfriend (who lives a couple hours away at the moment) and we exchange gifts. On Christmas Eve my family goes to my grandma's for dinner and present opening - the adults don't really get that many presents then because we focus more on making it about the children.

On Christmas day I go to my parents' house in the morning. Mom brings the "breakfast casserole" out of the oven, a combination of eggs, sausage and cheese blended together. Deliciousness. We open presents. After that, we quickly clean up for a big family dinner where everybody comes over. I eat and hang around for a few hours before slipping away to see my best friend and give her kids presents. Then I chill with her family for a while. After that I go home to tinker with the gifts I got.
