I spent the day with myself today and started to think about how much I like me. 🙂

It would be fun to know what you like best about yourself! Post as many things as you want and as many times as you want (come on, we're all so awesome we can't really grasp the awesomeness of ourselves just by thinking about it for ONE day, now can we? 🙂) but I want a MINIMUM of 3 things.

This should be a fun read! And I always find that making these sort of lists are a big confidence boost and a reminder to think positive. 🙂 Hope you guys agree!

lmao! what a brilliant idea for a thread!

ok where shall I start....

I'm a VERY detailed person.
I smile all the time..almost to a scary degree lol
I'm a multitasking genius

that's all to start..I don't want everyone to think i'm too awesome 😉 😛

To late! *bows to awesomeness* :D Glad you like the thread! :)
-I love my creativity. I do experiments on myself all the time. Well, I'm Aquarius, I just have to think creativily 🙂 I love how my brain works.

-My sense of humor.

-My love for Buffy, gotta love that!

-My eyes and the shape of my lips

I might come back for more, after I think it over.

Woohooo! Another creative Aquarian!
My kindness
My willingness to help others
My humour. At least sometimes
My ability to often see things from different perspectives.
When I do have my moments I have to say that they're almost genius.
That I'm often honest. I hate to lie.

aaw, I agree about all of the above. :)
The thing I love the most about me is my optimism. It's pretty much my biggest strenght. Even when I'm very down, I know deep down inside myself that life is worth living, and that it can be full of joy. That no matter how hard a time can be, it won't last for ever.

Also, I love my determination. I know how to get what I want or to get rid of what I don't want. My determination and my optimism are like super useful. Like when I messed up my first year of university and had a lot of things to study during the holidays to succeed. Many people thought my situation was hopeless. Some thought it was useless for me to work that hard. I didn't listen to that. I only listened to myself. I did what I had to do and I frigging succeded. Thanks to myself (and a few friends who were extremely supportive, like that one who sent me little gifts and nice cards to encourage me. It was great because I can't be all the time super-optimist, I had moments of doubt but I never, never gave up). Sometimes it scares me how I always manage to have what I want, I feel like manipulating people without realizing it at the moment. Some say I don't have to feel guilty to always have the good arguments. My determination and my optimism saved me more than once.
It already happened more than once that people try to put me down, but they never succeed.

I'm a honest gal and it's a plus. I remember, when I was working to Pizza Hut (it was my very first job ever), one of the manager said "Yeah, you are kind of very clumsy, but you're so motivate, reliable and honest that we will keep you". If I make a mistake, I say it. It's also a good thing because it already happened that someone tries to put the blame on me, but as I'm always the good girl, the manager knows I tell the truth when I say that I didn't do it. Doesn't mean I point my finger at people. I just don't let myself being accused of anything.

What else...I love to be a high-maintenance girl, I love to be taken care of...but in a situation of crisis, if I'm alone, I'm totally able to take care of myself. I can have good initiatives, I don't sit around waiting for the problems to fix them on their own.

I'm not a judgemental person, and it's very appreciated. I can expose my point of view without saying the other opinion is crap. I don't necessarily agree but I respect everyone's point of view. It can seem basic, normal, but I remember an argument about religion, with many people implicated (atheist against catholic) and I was told "Thank you not to judge us, you disagree with us but you develop your thought and respect ours, not like those who just insult us without trying to understand much".

In the end, I'm not sure I love myself, but I know I know myself, I know my flaws, my good sides, my strenghts, my weaknesses. It allows me not to care about people disliking me, I don't care about what they think about me. I know a lot of people think I'm stupid/naive/weird...And I am sometimes a bit slow to think or very naive, or weird, but I also know I'm more than that.

That state of mind is one of my heritages of Buffy. In Becoming, when Angelus says "Take all that, what's left?" and Buffy says "me"...I think it's like that in the real life. You can be alone, hopeless, you'll always have yourself.

*It's kind of egocentric to write such a long post about myself*
What about you, Blixten? 😀 What do you like about yourself? 😀

I love this post! Almost brought tears to my eyes. I totally agree about the "me"-part too, that's like my philosophy. :)
Ok, I guess I should tell you guys what I like about myself too, since I didn’t when I posted the thread. Here it goes. 🙂

I like me. I’m funny, I’m optimistic and very determined. I have a very strong work etic and always finish the things I set out to do. I also think I’m a good friend and a good listener.

The thing I like best about me though is the way I have grown the last few years. I used to be a person with really low self esteem. All the validation I wanted I mostly got from my achievements being judged and rated high, not by being comfortable in myself and developing my good sides. It was SO important for me to be smart and ”good” so I could feel Iike I was something. In this strive I really became inconsiderate of other peoples feelings and wasn’t really happy at all. I always felt that there was some new goal I had to reach to get acceptance. I got confronted with this a few years back, and after that I have worked really hard to get where I am today. It makes me super proud to think about how I have changed. It’s a big realisation for me to see that the person that’s going to validate me isn’t a teacher or a boss or someone else grading me, it’s ME. Feeling good about yourself comes from you, not someone else and I love me for finally getting that. 🙂

Things I like about me:
1. I can make most people laugh... some way or another.
2. I think I'm pretty wise for somebody my age.
3. I'm pretty good at doing different voices and copying mannerisms of other people. It certainly makes re-telling a story easy!
4. I play Dungeons and Dragons with my dad and his friends some weekends. It sounds nerdy but it's really fun to just sit around, role playing and eating junk food until 2AM! 🙂
5. I like being half-Italian. I'm proud of it because I love my family, and I love the culture! Plus, grandma's food! Yum!

Blixten, I know what you mean when you talked about not wanting to feel good only through "being good" and going by what other people thought of you like teachers and whatnot. I look up to you, actually, because I'm still in that boat. But it's great to see someone else come from that who was able to move on and feel happy about themselves through themselves... if that makes sense. 🙂

Italian-American karma!
I hate bragging. 🙁

But I'm just so awesome... It's hard to resist!

(sw)

Ok, let's see...

- I'm very intelligent, and I'm often serious, composed, and even wise. Insightful, too. But at the same time, I'm quite silly and I love joking around. And being creepy. 😛

- I'm very nerdy and sweet. And pretty dorky. BUT, I also understand and appreciate "cool", and I am pretty contemporary.

- I'm very open-minded, and I love debating things; it's difficult to aggravate me. 😉

- I'm very helpful: I would happily assist anyone who needed assistance.

- I'm all cuddly like a teddy bear! Huggable lol. But, because there must always be a but... I also respect a little something called personal space. 😉

- I'm pretty funny. Although if I'm shy around you then you probably won't realize it. 😛

- And I feel like such a bragger right now, so I'll just end with... I'm genuine and straight-forward, but I know to be nice. And I'm friendly. Promise! 😛

Zalos agrees: ''I hate bragging'' yea riiighT!

Quiet, Tomz! I don't need your SASS!

Well the things that I'm proud of about me are:

- I'm very open-minded, I hate stereotypes, generalizations and the like.
- I always see the positive side of things, I'm not a pessimist.
- I smile and talk a lot(yes that's good!).
- I'm pretty smart and wise for my age(BRAGGING!) 😎
- I'm very empathic!
- I speak more than one language(yea ok I can be proud of things like that!).
- I can totally go from dead serious to hilariously silly.

OH and...

- I ship Bratie & Doann!

Such nice things! I can see why you're proud.
Blixten, I know what you mean when you talked about not wanting to feel good only through "being good" and going by what other people thought of you like teachers and whatnot. Aaw, that makes me dead proud to read!

It can be hard to break the habit if you’re used to getting validation a certain way, I know. It’s such a easy way to get that little confidence boost or kick by getting praise or a high grade. What is important to remember I think is that all these things you do and achieve they really don’t sum up who you ARE. You wrote super nice things about yourself (which I all think is true btw 🙂) and you’ll probably be more happy appriciating what you allready have and what these qualities have meant to you (like friend you’ve made or family members you’ve made feel better) than focusing on how you can be better . You’re better NOW. 🙂

And, if you’re anything like me, don’t beat yourself up about it if you don’t start to love yourself and stop your behavouir right away. This can be super tricky to do since if you are a person that strives to be good of course you’re going to want to succeed with loving yourself too. 🙂 One thing that helped me was that at first I didn’t only focus on what my way of being was doing to myself (being unhappy) but how it affected others (it can be hard to care for yourself when you’re not used to it, so then it helps to think about the people you love and how it affects them too) By acting like this you can really hurt a lot of people by sending out signals about that you’re only good enough when you perform well enough. You may say (and really mean) something different to others if they ask you, but what you then DO really matters more than you think, specially for yourself. How you act affects how you feel.

Think about it as a process though and take one day at a time. It’s great that you’re aware of this about yourself, I didn’t realise why I was acting and feeling the way I did for many years, so it’s a huge thing that you even know! That means you allready have started to change. If you recognize why you act like you do you can also in time see that the thoughts and feelings you’re having aren’t logical or realistic and relax and give yourself a break. You’re worth that.

Lol, didn’t mean to get all dr phil on you, but I do mean everything I write.

Thank you so much for that! :) You made my day!
First and by far foremost for me - honesty. Been through a lot of sh*t with my family, and the one great lesson I took by heart is, don't live a lie, because it will catch up with ya.

Sense of humor, especially being able to laugh about myself.

I've become pretty good at calmly accepting people the way they are, even if I don't understand them. There's very few people left on my hatelist. (My therapist from a few years ago will likely remain on it forever though. Stupid git. 😛 )

Not all that sure about my intelligence, it's a mixed blessing. When it comes in handy, it comes in very handy indeed, so that's something I do like... but OTOH, I'm living proof that high intelligence often comes coupled with depressivity. Ah well.

I seem to get the feat done to be warm, caring, and accessible over the internet, when I'm all withdrawny and awkward IRL. Gotta give myself points for finding the medium in which I could overcome my limitations. 🙂

As for physical traits... I'm quite happy of my most unusual combo of boobs with a veritable Santa Clause beard (not yet in white, though - dark brown with just a hint of auburn). The best of both worlds, right? 😀 I've also always found my nose very cute.

Great things, you must be proud. Also, I agree, you can tell that you're a really fun and caring person when talking to you!
. I like that I'm still here really. A few years back I was literally about to give up on life but I'm still here. So yay me. 🙂
. I like that I'm loyal. Friendships are important to me so I'll always be there for my buds.
. I like that I'm the king of the verbal smackdown. 😀 In my work place I see a lot of nice, quiet people being bullied and I like sticking up for the little guy. 🙂 So I'm pretty good at telling the bullies where to shove it. I'm not big with the butch but when it comes to saying what's on my mind and particularly in relation to something I fell is extremely wrong - I can destroy with words. 😀

-I play by my own rules
-I'm really smart
-I'm constantly thinking of others
-I have the best sense of humor. There's almost nothing I don't find funny.
-I can empathize with people easily
-I have natural insight
-I finally have a positive view on the world and I don't let people bring that down anymore.

Stay positive! That's always a good attitude :)
Okay so I like that
-I'm smart
-I'm honest
-I'm always laughing. Like seriously I can't stop at times.
-I don't mind embarrassing myself.
-I'm out there
-I can be quite the joker
-Last but not least I am good looking and darn tootin 😛

I'm always laughing too!
This is something that I've never sat down and tried to make a list of, so here are the things that just come immediately to mind.

1) I'm honest, unless that honesty would offend or harm someone unnecessarily.

2) I am not, despite my interest in guns, knives, and the martial arts, a violent man. I will go far out of my way to avoid any sort of confrontation whenever possible.

3) About the only things that really get me angry is the abuse if the weak and defenseless, either people or animals.

4) And just to add one more thing to a very short list, I make a hell of an egg salad sandwich.

You're lucky you aren't short tempered.
The things I like about myself are...

- I'm honest. I've learnt to be a lot more honest in the last few years. I will say what's on my mind and just get anything out in the open fast because I cannot stand tension or being lied to.

- I'm pretty strong minded. I've only realised this as of late through a friend who thought I was very strong after my Aunt died. She was expecting me to be a wreck but I wasn't because I had come to accept what had happened and look on it all in a positive way even if it was a sad time.

- I'm apparently very loyal. Many friends and my family have said I'm loyal to those I love. I guess it's true because no matter what I'll listen to anyone who needs a shoulder to cry on. I don't care what mood you're in as I'd rather let you go through the motions before feeling better and not being fake about a situation.
