What do you think about Joss Whedon?

Sorry if such a thread allready exist:
What do you think about Joss Whedon?
-Brilliant guy with a lot of great ideas?
-Great guy who loves to shock his fans?
-I am not interested into him at all.
-I think it's scary how much fantasy he has...
-Nice guy but crazzy, in a certain way

Just some thoughts which followed me...
What do you think about Joss? Does he mean something for you? Or just one out of seven billions?

I have definitely lost allot of my fascination with him, I think some of the things he's done have been really bad decision made for crappy reasons (Cordelia in season 4/5)

His stories are often great, but I think allot of the constraints that are put on him have helped allot, he said about the comics that he got to do stuff with the characters he didn't get to do because of budgets on the TV, well if budgets kept away Giant Dawn, and Godzilla Dawn, I'll all for giving the man a budget. Of that idea about how Buffy was gonna bring back Tara at the end of season 7, but Amber said no - if that was a true story, it would definitely make me question him.

From what I've seen of him in interviews and stuff I just get the impression I wouldn't like him, like he kinda thinks he's better then he is.

He facinates me. For me it's unbelievable how a single person can have such a fantasy. I think I am a little bit suspicious when it goes about him! And I hate some of his decisions!
 
I love Joss for his imagination, and for the fact that he creates worlds I've never seen before. His stories are often genius, and while I may not agree with all of his decisions, he is still, IMO, one of the greatest writers and directors of all time. I've never been more moved, or more in awe, of any piece of entertainment like I've been with Joss' work. The impact of his work is what matters.

Now, Joss as a person? I probably wouldn't get along with him. He seems too full of himself, like [MENTION=5973]Black Eye Guy[/MENTION] said. Like he's better than everybody else. That's not a good attitude to have. You should always stay humble, which is one of the reasons why I think Buffy was, and probably always will be, his greatest achievement. Nowadays, he's letting the over-the-top praise get to him. You should always strive to be better.
 
I'm not really interested in him at all. I respect him for creating some of the shows the I truly love and the storylines and episodes that I truly love, but for me not all credit there goes to him ( he wasn't alone after all 🙂) so while I respect him, I've definitely lost the more 'fascinated fan' thing I had going for him when I first started watching Buffy.

He's talented, sometimes I enjoy what he creates with his talent, sometmes I don't, he seems like a decent person... more than that I can't really say. 😀

One trick pony. The more interviews of him, the more I think the success of BtVS must have been to a great extent down to other writers, especially David Greenwalt.
 
I honestly don't know. He created my two favourite characters, he gets infinite props for that. A big part of me feels that he is a one trick writer who has a tendency to preach to his audience.

Sometimes I think I continue to watch (and even occasionally enjoy) his new material is because it is just so familiar to me. It's almost a comfort to know the rhytmns of his writing so well that when I hear dialogue I can pinpoint it as his. I think I enjoy that aspect so much that it makes me forget that most of what he has written in the last decade has either infuriated or deeply disappointed me.

As for the man himself? I don't know him, so I can't really say.
 
He is a genius, and even better than William Shakespeare.

With that said....

He's had some misses. BtVS is brilliant. Angel is brilliant, but not quite as brilliant. Firely was great, but not brilliant. Dollhouse was good, but not great, and certainly not brilliant.

So maybe I agree with [MENTION=9799]Taake[/MENTION]?
 
I think his work with Btvs and Ats is great. I don't like what he did to Charisma and Cordelia. I like his equality now speech. That's about it. I don't know him and I never watched or read any interviews with him, so I can't say much more.
 
Joss has certainly come up with some fascinating ideas for both television and film, but beyond liking certain pieces of his work I don't think much about him. Personally, enjoying (some of) his work hasn't really sparked any interest or intrigue about him as a person.
 
I love him. I love his "I'm better than you" attitude. I believe that's part of what makes him a good artist. I respect his work and his personality.

This, definitely... I think he comes across as a douche in interviews and stuff, but I do respect his work.
 
Joss is a genius clearly. His work is wonderful and we wouldn't be here otherwise. However Joss as a person I have no respect for.
 
He's a genius and he has fantastic ideas. He doesn't always execute them properly, but at least one episode, of every single one of his series has included...just phenomenal moments in television history. I'd love to have a ridiculously long conversation with him one day. I can't judge him based on his personality because I've never met him.
 
I think Joss is a visionary, with a genius for storytelling. We agree on many things, and I admire his progressive attitude. He's one of my idols; my dream was always to be a famous TV writer.
 
Love the guy, genius, wrote some of the best Buffy Eps, like Restless, who are you etc. Dont get the people saying they dont like him based on his interviews? How does he act like he thinks he's better than you, or arrogant? examples please, dont just say it. He comes across as humble.
