What do you think about Kate's character?

What are your thoughts on the character of Kate?

I have mixed feelings about her. I felt that although the actress did a very good job, Kate's character never had any chemistry with Angel's, either romantic or platonic. I also tired of how she is so cold to Angel and the gang despite the multiple situations where they have helped out.

Her story is a little sad and I thought the writers were going to ultimately make her join the Angel Investigations team but she just disappeared after Angel saved her life. I liked the last scene with her and Angel but I thought she would get more of a send-off than that.
 
I like her in season one, but she just becomes a pain in the ass by season two. Angel helps her out, demonstrates he isn't evil, she says something nasty, blah, blah, blah.

And I think she would have become a much more major character if Elisabeth Rohm hadn't gotten a job on Law & Order.
 
I liked Kate's character a lot, but I think she was underused in the second season. She really fitted in with the feel of the first season though, with the whole seedy LA/film noir thing they were going for. I loved the first season. 😀
 
She played a good part in the shows dynamic. Angel would prove to her hes not evil, and she would be disgusted and reject him anyways, just like he'd prove to the world he wasnt evil, and the world would reject him and hate him. I always felt she sort of represented society's off-base reactions to Angel.
She was kind of annoying at parts, but I wish she would have stuck around. I wanted to see where their relationship would lead.
 
I liked Kate a lot, and would have liked to see her return to the show. I always found her to be quite a sad character. She has to grieve for a father, who she never really got any love or affection from. I think she hates herself for that, and him. Angel just happens to wear the same face as those who killed her father, and was an easy target for her anger.
It's a shame we didn't see her story continue on screen. Angel entering her apartment without an invite, was definitely a sign of some higher purpose for her.
She's pretty cool in After The Fall though. 😀
 
I loved Kate's character. I always expected her name to be on the credits in the beginning but it never happened. I rather would have seen her join the cast in season 3 than Fred.
 
In Season 1, "Angel Investigations" started out, other than the obvious supernatural theme, as the classic fictional detective agency. They had handsome detective with the sleazy office, the gorgeous secretary, the drunken partner, and the struggle to maintain honesty and integrity while dealing with the dregs of society. The only other element required for that scenario is the police officer/friend who serves as a contact inside the police department who is the source of inside information. When they began moving away from that whole setup, the actual need for Kate's character ceased to have any real value except as a recurring character. Over a couple of seasons, even that recurring character ceased to have any real value, and was never really developed as fully as would have been needed to completely integrate her into the ongoing storyline. It's interesting that they have chosen to revamp her character for the "After The Fall" series, and given her a more important role. I assume that she is a replacement for the feminine element provided in earlier seasons by Cordy and Fred.
 
I liked her until she became particularly annoying after her father's death. I understand mistrusting Angel on the basis that he's a vampire, but she pretty much wanted to blame him for everything that ever happened. Ever.

I'm sure she worked it out so that he was responsible for the Holocaust.
 
I like her a lot, but the scene when she tries to kill herself is not so HER. Also, that Sense and Sensibility episode wasn't my fav of Kate's episodes.
 
I hated Kate from start to finish she was such a complaining pain in the ass. You could have taken her character out completly and it would have had no effect her entire time on the show just made it pretty annoying
 
Pretty sure she was supposed to be the Jim Gordon riff, but when the actress signed on as a regular for Law & Order (as opposed to semi-regular on Angel), the character and her direction had to be altered and written out.

Instead of just killing her off, which is the normal response, she was simply whisked away leaving the opening available for a possible return.
