Also a strong female character like Buffy or just a nice (but hollow) eye candy for the gamer community?

Oh jeez.
The second one.

'See, she's half-naked but there's an in-game rationale for why she's half-naked. So it's like, in-character for her not to wear much.'

If it were a male sniper character would he need to go around shirtless for some in-game reason?

Look, it's a weak excuse. She's meant to be an object of lust/eye candy for gamers from what I can gather.
If you want hot characters (of both genders) that's fine but just be honest about your motivations. If you pander they you're pandering- there's nothing wrong with that exactly, its what sells lots of games- but don't dress it up as something else and pretend that its part of her background.

I'm not a fan of the Metal Gear Solid games anyway.

Man, I call bullshit. She's eye candy, nothing more.

And for the record, I don't mind sexualization in video games, but let's call a spade a spade.

I personally like Xenoblade, very underrated game! And as a bonus you can make them fight in their underwear. 😀 LOL

Okay, we have weapons and pants. Now all we need...is a plan! :P
Let's not bad mouth metal gear solid. Back in the old days when I used to be a gamer metal gear solid was unbelievable!

Does anyone (I highly doubt it) remember Leisure Suit Larry and The Lounge Lizards? That was a game that knew how to portray women characters. I played that sumbitch on my radio shack 'computer'! those were the days.

The only one I liked is the one where you could convincingly hide from guards inside a cardboard box, people had exclamation marks/question marks appearing above their heads and you had to fight a shaman armed with a mini-gun at one point.
A shaman armed with a mini-gun! Now that was an awesome game. 🙂
Some of the later ones were utter pants though- other games of a similar genre to MGS surpassed them unfortunately. 🙁

That's it. The first game on the original PlayStation.
So she is eye candy is she? Her head looks a bit small. Is she a leader of others, does she bark orders to them?

Mr. Pole, my first computer ran on two 8 inch floppy discs, I doubt that Leisure Suit Larry was even a concept in those days.

The ones like the little cassette tapes? or like the DAT tapes?
This was what powered my (i think) first computer.. a vic-20. It was the bomb. That was before (I think) DOS was commerical.

Mr. Pole,
on later ones maybe, but the one I had used one 8 inch floppy for the computers operating software and the other 8 inch had the word processor. The computer had a black screen and the writing appeared in green. No other colour was available. Oh those were the days when
computers were not desktop computers, they were the desk. And the printer unit was over a yard high and it had a 10 inch screen.
Then computers got so fast and had massive hard drives of 35mb.

Right.. you had to leave one disc in all the time.. I know what you are talking about.. didnt HAVE one, but I know it. I just forgot about the 8.5ers completely.. floppies in general I forgot about.
I still have an Ohio Scientific Superboard and the add-on RAM board.
Do you really! that's amazing.. unless you are like one of those hoarders then: get help. Did you keep it all this time? Why? I just have trouble throwing stuff out, I do it too easily I guess. I am always looking for something then remember I threw it away and buy another, so the idea of someone keeping something obsolete even just for the sake of keeping it astounds me sometimes.

I am a collector (and hoarder) of antique radios. I lost count of floor models at 17. I have a whole galaxy of table models. And that is small compared to some other collectors. I have a corresponding collection of electronic test equipment. My latest acquisition is my twelfth oscilloscope, a Waterman Pocketscope (don't let the name fool you, it's plenty big). I have signal generators, signal tracers, impedance bridges, meters and a whole bunch of stuff. I even have several radios that get the old 42 MHZ - 50 MHz band that doesn't exist anymore now that FM is 88 MHz - 108 MHz.

I am planning on moving my receivers and tuners into the room I am using now as a computer room. I am looking to get rid of some radios, but prices are dropping and the number of collectors is drying up.

Why not both? I mean, Buffy, though obviously not to such a degree, can be pretty fan-service-y as well.

Agreed. Even moreso the early Buffy from s1 and s2.
