What do you think of ... Marilyn Manson?

Intelligent, caring, gifted, individual and artist to society, yet again however, clouded judgements based on pre-fabricated, judgemental thoughts ruin our co-existence.

Bill Hicks once expressed, "What business is it of your's what I do, read, buy, see or take into my body as long as I don't harm another human being whilst on this planet? And for those of you having a little moral dilemna on how to answer this, I'll answer for you. NONE OF YOUR ******* BUSINESS! Take that to the bank, cash it and take it on a vacation outta my ******* life."

You may hate, sorry dislike him, but foremost in my view, however great the allowance for this (and it's a thin line of personal preference and opinionated differences) some people here aren't justified.

Well, one thing before giving my MM oppinion...no normal, well adjusted person just listens to a band or watches a movie and goes out and kills people because of it. That kind of thinking is irresponsible in my oppinion. Look at the families for the answers before blaming anyone or anything else.

Ok, as for Marilyn Manson...I think he's brilliant and I love his work. You really can't listen to his stuff and take everything at face value. It goes deeper than that.

I've also seen the Diary of and Bowling for Columbine ... it was really touching. I don't think he's normal, but then that's not a bad thing, if you look at other 'normal' ppl (*cough* George W. Bush *cough*). They sometimes do things lot worse then removing their own ribs ... sending out young boys to foreign countries to kill ppl ... No, I can't say Marilyn is the worse!

I like Manson, he looks strange, i like his songs ( except for that tainted love remake *shudder*) and hes really down to earth when he talks..the only prob i have with him is the whole removing of the rib for self pleasuring..... 😵;;

im a fan i have to say i love his music...🙂 and he puts on amazing stage shows..although he was prettty crap at the metallicas big day out as it was after columbine and the crowds were taunting him🙁 but at all the other gigs he was brilliant🙂 a modern day alice cooper/david bowie/ozzy

I wou7ldn't say I was a fan of his. I can't really say much about his albums or whatever because i haven't heard them in full, my friends a big fan but I just don't think he has much talent as an musican. I liked Disposable Teens and I think he uses his image well for him but his voice is just beyond my liking and his videos seem all the same to be and try too hard to be shocking.

Replying to several things I've read. Marilyn Manson without make-up for ya: http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:AM2vHd5rfMoC:www.deansplanet.com/manson.jpg

And many men wear make up, Kiss wore it all the time, they wern't freaks. Hell James and Seth wear it on the show. I have to admit, my friend plastered black make up on me, I didnt like the face stuff but I like black nails but dont paint mine.

"Marilyn Manson: the Long Hard Road Out of Hell" is a good book to read to know the real Marilyn, even if your not a fan read a few chapters, he hasnt had the perfect happy smily childhood.

"During his adolescent years, Marilyn Manson (born under the name Brian Warner) was enrolled in the Heritage Christian School, where he was exposed to horror stories about the apocalypse and the antichrist. Because he was so terrified of what he was being exposed to, he began to become withdrawn, and disillusionment set in. Since he felt so different from everyone else, he developed the notion that he wouldn't be saved like everyone else. Besides that, because of his increasing distance from what the Christian school was teaching him, he started to see futility hypocracy of their philosophies. Before too long, he discovered the now retro heavy metal of Kiss, Wasp, Judas Priest among others. At school, they would hold seminars about how this music was evil and this was something they shouldn't be listening to. Naturally, what the Christian school forbade struck a chord in Brian Warner, and it attracted him possibly because it was the exact opposite of what teachings med him feel rejected by the Christian school. It didn't take long for Brian to discover that he had found a niche that was to his liking. He was always very into music, but it wasn't until much later he got the confidence to start his own musical project."

I think Marilyn Manson is one of the best lyricists around, listen to the lyrics of Great Big White World, The Last Day On Earth, The Speed of Pain and others. The speed of pain in particular isnt the heavy loud "rah-rah-rah" music people associate with him, its almost chilling in a good way.

Admitedly I dont like the corsets and the Mechanical Album cover but im not gonna hate him because he doesnt follow conformaty. And lastly, how could you hate this:

I think that he is pure entertainment. I mean, I do beleive he is a person and has a life, but I think he just puts on a great show. Nothing more-I like some of his songs, but I have no idea what he is singing about, I like the sound/beat only.

he didn't remove his ribs, that's a myth... like many others...

and if you're recommending lyrics, where's "The Man That You Fear" or "Valentine's Day"... i mean...

"in the shadow of the valley of death, slit our wrists and sends us to heaven, the first flower after the flood"

very well said!!

i think there are alot of rumors out there, like the one with the rib.. it might be true, might just be rumor! i have a really hard time acually beliveing that soemone would do that! if someone would then eww, but i have a hard time beliving it!(scince he is the char that he is, and he looks the way he does, i think it makes him an easy rumor target!! we have seen alot of rumors flowing around about alot of artist!!)

i think MM seems okay, i haven't heard that many songs, so i'm not gonna judge the music, i think his vertion of "sweet dreams are made of this..." is pretty cool, very cool voice! i have(as i've said in a former post) seen him in some interviwes.. and i think he seems like alevel headed person!

i think we sorta need people who look extreem and do what they want! we need people to be less ordinery(bad spelling!) we can't all look alike.... 😉

i havent heard any of his music but he seemed like a pretty intelligent bloke in bowling for columbine. which is more then i can say for most people in mainstream music.

from what i read here half of you seem to dislike a mans image because he decides to be different?

WHAT?!?!

he wears make up?

if you go around judging people on looks your going to have a major shock when you have to face the real world.

people have different outlooks on life then you ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON.

Faldor i havent heard any of his music but he seemed like a pretty intelligent bloke in bowling for columbine. which is more then i can say for most people in mainstream music.
LMAO!!!! you can say that again...

the rest you said was also very well said!!
