What do you think the show will be like?

I'm so glad she didnt die!

I really hope Eliza finds some time for a few more Angel guest apperances.

I think the show will be cool, but i dont know how anything could be better than a FAith spin-off. I mean, that would have been an amazing show! I cant believe Eliza passed that up.
Yes, i am still bitter!

she didn't die; she will still be able to do guest spots on Angel, according to Joss. And in an interview i just read she said it is a big possibility. 🙂 so yay!

David Boreanaz said at a recent convention he thought he was going to be working with Eliza again, so I think he knows that something is in the works with Faith returning to Angel for a guest appearance or two.

I'm THRILLED that Faith didn't die. I would have sobbed if she had. But I'm also glad for Eliza's sake that she didn't take the spin off. Type casting is a nasty little problem for so many actors. And I DON'T want her type casted. I think that's why she's doing this. She's distancing herself some from the Buffyverse. I unerstand it. And I respect, applaud, and like it. I LOVE Eliza and can't wait to see what she's able to bring to this show. 🙂

I'm pretty sure this COULD be a good show but it has so many hurdles to overcome.

1) Bad Time Slot - going against the last season of Friends and Survivor is a death sentence. TC just can't get ratings against those two.

2) Plot device heavily borrows from other shows/movies. I never really watched it but this sounds very similar to "Evening Edition". And there's been so many instances of "foreseeing the future" or "given a second chance" storylines that it's not even worth it to count. Granted, it's always an intruiging idea but it almost always gets old real fast.

3) Dealing with death on such a regular basis seems like it would make Tru a very morose and anxious individual. Dushku's real talent is to bring her own vivacious and energetic persona to her characters. If there's no chance for Tru to be happy or for Dushku to flash that winning smile of hers, I can't see this being a hit, regardless of time slot.

Frankly I'd love to see this show succeed but it has an uphill battle ahead of it. I can understand Eliza wanting to make it on her own but I just don't think Tru Calling will be that vehicle for her. And just because she chose this over a Faith spinoff doesn't mean that she knows it's going to be a success. It just means that this is her BEST shot at success right now (at least outside of the Buffy-verse).

Reading what TV guide had to say, it wasn't a horrible review, and they did seem to really like Eliza in the premire ep... though they felt that the premise was kind of cluttered and so forth. I'm hopeing that in the first string of eps they can perhaps clear up any of the clutter and show true promise of a show with long term power... but I worry because of FOX's rep for canning shows before they truly get a chance.
