What do you want to happen?

So this is the thread where we all talk about what we HOPE will happen in Season 9. This is pure opinion, and everyone's opinions and ideas are welcomed. 🙂

Me? I'm hoping Angel will hook up with Faith and they will finally become canon. I think they fit together much better than Angel and Buffy.

I also hope Xander and Dawn stay together. We all know how Joss likes to play with our hearts where couples are concerned, and I'm hoping this is the one time when a couple will get to stay together without major drama.

I hope Buffy will hook up with Satsu again... 🙂 I think it would be wicked interesting to see Buffy in a lesbian relationship.

• to see Willow get on without magic. I want to see her get a job and come down to earth and be a real person. I'd be a little disappointed if Season 9 were all about her trying to get her powers back, to be honest.

Okay, to clarify, I meant a normal person. The creative team have said Faith and Angel will not hook up and I really hope they stick to that plan because Faith and Angel's magic is in their friendship.

I really really want to see Angel to "go home" to Ireland. Given the the nature of his burdens, I feel like going back to where it all began to go wrong would almost be like a pilgrimage for Angel and I think it would make an amazing story for his character. I honestly believe he needs to do this.

I hope Buffy and Connor meet. To me, they fill the missing parts of Angel for each other and that is something I really want to see.

I hope there is no big bad this season. The characters biggest enemies are themselves. I want to see them rebuild their lives. I want to see them interact. I want to see them deal with their issues. I don't want anything distracting from that.

I want Buffy and Angel to have a moment. A moment for "I'm sorry". A moment for forgiveness. A moment where they can love each other. A moment where they have to let go again. But do so knowing it is not goodbye.

Prophecygrrl, I'm not denying magical people can lose touch with reality, but they can also keep in touch with their humanity if they choose to Buffy and Willow proved this over the years in BVS. I don't know Willow in season 8 seemed like a normal person to me who just happen to have magical powers, she certainly wasn't using them in the megolmanic way Buffy and Angel did in season 8. Also I think issue#40 already proves that Willow could function without her powers since she obviously did for six months, though she is expected to go through trauma as well which makes lots of sense. I don't think Willow in season 8 was less of a normal person, a normal person is very much the same normal person is for the real world, unless your saying a person can only be a normal if they don't have superpowers which the Buffyverse has different versions of what makes a normal person, because that makes Buffy not a person as well and well her judgement was terrible in season 8. In BVS normal people can be just as bad as those with superpowers for example Warren. Sorry I happen to think that superpowers don't define a character and whether Willow has superpowers or not she is still Willow and considered at least as normal of person whether she has them or not.

My season 9 wishlist

- Angel doesn't get screwed like he did at the end of season 8
- We see some of the Fang Gang (Cordelia, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, and maybe even Doyle)
- Buffy goes back to her roots, and we get a memorable Big Bad who has some depth
- Dawn dies
- Lots of Bangel 😀
- The potentials becoming less important
- We finally get some closure about Anya!!

Ok, so first there are all of the loose ends/elephants in the room from season 7 that need to be addressed:

-Anya
-Buffy acknowledging that Spike saved the world, you know, verbally
-Buffy and Spike discussing why they were not in touch between his death and his return in season 8
-Buffy and Spike discussing those three little words that were spoken in "Chosen" and what they mean
-Dawn forgiving Spike and inviting him into her home
-Xander acknowledging that since Spike saved the world maybe he could do him the eensy favor of inviting him into his home for a beer or something

**(seriously when you read season 8 it seems like half of the events of season 7 never happened as they are just not dealt with at all)

Moving forward:

-Buffy schooling some of the new rebel slayers who think they have any idea what it's like to be a leader and a champion just because they were given all of this power all of a sudden.

-Willow really taking the time and energy to heal and become a whole person after all that she's been through; not hiding behind magic anymore, but instead becoming a force to be reckoned with as a woman and then truly being ready to use magic again.

-The return of magic. But not right away.

-Spike taking some time to figure out what he wants. Where he'll go from here in love, and life in general. Taking a page from Angel's book but vowing not to let himself go where Angel did.

-Angel turning to Faith for guidance and support. Don't really see anything romantic between the two but I think they are great as friends.

-Spike and Willow becoming good friends. Don't know why, but ever since "The Initiative," I've always wanted to see this happen. I think they would really understand each other.

-Spike and Buffy picking up from where they left off in season 7. Becoming best friends. Then moving forward with their relationship, eventually.

-Dawn finishing school and becoming something totally "normal," professionally, like Xander. I'd love to see her as either a psychiatrist or surgeon.

And so much more that I can't think of right now.

Oh, I forgot to add that I really want the Fray future to be addressed. I don't really know what's going on there and it makes me sad that such a bleak future awaits everybody. I hope they can do something to prevent that, otherwise I have to be honest and say that I do not like the endgame scenario very much at all.

I'm hoping the exact opposite and it's why I won't be picking up that comic. If there's romance I really hope Faith finds someone better for her, a new guy who'll only be hers so to speak.

Same goes for Angel. Though honestly considering his track record I'm not sure he should even be in a relationship. He should be focused on redemption concerning y'alls know what.

I would like for the first issue to start and reveal everything that happened in season 8 was nothing but a bad dream. Seriously, it disappointed me. I stopped buying the comics when I found out the identity of Twilight. And reading the posts here, I can only see that it got worse.

A Cordelia appearance would be nice too.

I'd like to see Angel put aside the notion of "redemption" and just concentrate on doing good. You can't bring back the dead (well, not anymore), and saving another life to try and "balance the books" doesn't do anything for the person you killed or his/her family and friends left behind. He needs to put aside the notion that killing 100 people to save 101 is what a hero is supposed to do. A hero instead kills no innocents, and saves as many as he can.

He also needs to stop listening to prophecies and visions and higher powers... even if they're right. If all we are is puppets of things greater than we are, then life is pretty much meaningless and there's no reason to save the world. Let the power do the saving, if they care.

I'd like to see a minimum of focus on "ships." At least, no shippy angst.

And I would be up for the idea of Willow and Amy reconciling and joining forces in trying to restore magic to the world.

Season 9 is supposed to be more about relationships than any single Big Bad, or at least that's what I've heard, so I want to see a lot of flashbacks concerning the lost time between the end of Season 7 and the beginning of Season 8 for Buffy and her friends, and the time between the ending of "Aftermath" and the time that Angel runs into the "Hollywood" sign (primarily, the war that he lost and how he managed to travel back in time to correct whatever happened) and Spike appeared. We've got a total of almost 2 years and 3 story lines there that are total mysteries that I would like more information on.

I also want to see Angel give the bride away at Buffy and Spike's wedding, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

What I want? OK...

* No more vampire crap, no more Spike/Buffy, no more Angel/Buffy ( seems to be pretty much done for now, their love being a cosmic manipulation, him murdering her de facto father and all that... ) ever, seriously EVER. I don't care with what or who Buffy is having sex as long as it's not dead and/or demonic. Vampire thing has been done to death, I can't imagine anything new or interesting coming out of it. No more!

*No Big Bad. Why? Buffy defeated a God, The Evil© and a Universe! Having a problem with annihilating just about anything will make Buffy seem weak and ridiculous. Thus, no traditional Big Bad.

*Buffy and Willow need to have a serious talk, no lies, no hiding. There's so much tension between them that they can either kill each other ( kinda happened already... ) or have wild, angry sex.

* Dawn and Xander forever. They deserve some happiness and normalcy, killing ( almost ) every woman Xander has ever been with/was interested in is getting old.

*More Willow and Xander interaction, they still are best friends, right? Willow needs a friend right now.

*Less characters. Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn, maybe Spike and that's it. No more issues about Kennedy/Satsu/Harmony/Clem/[ insert your favourite minor character here ] Also, no characters from "Angel", they have their own comic. And no resurrections, Giles, Tara, Anya, [ insert your favourite dead ( not un-dead ) character here ] are dead and should stay that way. No fan service, I said it.

*Do not dumb down the story in season 9 just because most of the fandom did not understand the brilliance of season 8. There's nothing better than deciphering the symbolism after hours of research and that feeling of triumph when you find out that you were right! ( for example, the identity of Twilight was revealed in issue 6... ) Buffy Summers is smarter than she was, we can be too.

I very much agree with all of Kean's points.

I want the Scoobies to go back to what they were. Friends first and everything else comes second. I want to have them interact with each other, I want to see them talk that is not about the mission. He was a father figure to Buffy, Dawn and Willow and him and Xander liked each other well enough, too. I want to see them deal with Giles' death, together. I want to see them grief but I want to see them move beyond that, too.

I want the Season 8 Slayers (especially Satsu, Leah and Rowena) to be more than just background characters. Actually, a three to four issue mini-series focusing on them dealing with what being a part of the Slayer army meant to them and how they deal with that loss would be perfect. It's a completely different story than Buffy's or even Faith's. Though I guess I can count myself lucky if they appear at all.

I want everyone to just move on, romance-wise. It is okay to date new people, you don't have to be with the person you dated in high school or even college for the rest of your life, BUFFY. Personally, I'm still holding out for Faith/Buffy endgame. As long as there's neither Spike/Buffy nor Angel/Buffy, I'll be OK. Actually, scratch Faith/Buffy, I want to see Buffy happily single and not moping about anybody just that once. And I want to know why Willow and Kennedy are still together. I don't hate Kennedy and I know that puts me in a minority here (which I'm used to, lol), but I want to see what it is about them that made them work for such a long time because I haven't seen it yet. It can't be just "my girlfriend has a pierced tongue".

No Faith/Angel. They're friends and a romantic/sexual relationship would ruin the dynamic of their relationship, I think.

Buffy and Spike being bros, without any of that creepy stalker thing they had going for a while.

Oh, and bring back Team Angel, for God's sake. The Fang Gang needs more love. I'd like to see that potential S6 plot realised where Illyria and Fred are split into different bodies.

What I'd like to see:

-An actual explanation for the characters' behavior in S8 that doesn't come in the form of Allie's poorly-formed, self-contradicting metaphors that don't really explain anything at all.
-Buffy making new friends.
-Buffy being in character and capable of thought and kicking ass like in Anne and Helpless.
-Willow finding a less artificial way to empower herself. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I've always wanted Willow to use her natural intelligence as a source of power rather than relying on magic.
-Clem
-Xander and Dawn having a normal life and NOT fighting.

What I don't want to see:

-Love triangles. So 1990's.
-Time travel.
-Vagina dentata
-Self-congratulatory comic references.
-Character cameos (I don't think there are any left, though)
-Nude covers.
-Dawn faking sex to annoy people because ew

What I expect to see:
-Satsu will be the one gunning for Buffy
-Buffy and Spike doing an awkward will they/won't they dance
-A triangle
-Lotsa "slut shaming"
-Willow going more nutty
