Oh - they went and changed Script-Fu when they updated GIMP, and now I'm not sure how to use it. Before, I could create text effects by going to Script-Fu > Logos > and then choosing an effect. Now, Script-Fu lacks a logo option, is part of a different menu, and doesn't seem to work in quite the same way. Script-Fu has always been sort of a mystery to me, so I'd like to learn how to use this new version.
^ I'd just like to update the above and say that while I've learned a little bit about how to download and use other folks' scripts, I'm finding some scripts and plugins that require something called Python. As near as I can figure, it's like Script-Fu, but not quite the same. Just as I'm afraid to try to create my own scripts for script fu (even for processes that I use often, like the process by which I create shadows), I am afraid to touch anything that has the letters "P" and "y" in any sort of relationship to one another. I'm also afraid of this new GEGL color thingie. Not touching it. No siree. Not with a ten foot pole -- unless some helpful GIMP expert has decoded the mysteries of 2.6 for me, that is. 🙂
In addition, I have started to experiment with the new Script-Fu > Logos menu that I mention in my previous post, BUT I still need to use a separate document. Not so cool. I miss my pretty Xtns menu! If you could help with finding a better way to integrate that tool, I would greatly appreciate it.
Note: I do realize that I'm getting into advanced stuff like scripting language here, so I totally understand if this is outside the realm of possibility. Obviously, I'm quite the novice. I understand what a parsing error is and can sometimes manage to edit the correct line. I can also sometimes use some basic HTML and the like. Otherwise, I'm clueless.
