Joan the Vampire Slayer
Carpe Spuffy!
Again I state I've only seen it once and plan on keeping it that way.
Fair enough.
To me Buffy didn't have feelings FOR HIM, but instead needed something to keep her mind side tracked for a moment and then it began to grow into feelings for him.
I agree with this on some level, in that Buffy used Spike in an attempt to "feel" something, but it was clear that Buffy had feelings for Spike in Season 5 (think about the sexual tension between them in FFL, or the way she kissed him in Intervention).
Spike stated he loved Buffy but I think he honestly never knew what love was.
From the very beginning we are supposed to believe that Spike is an anomaly and therefore has the capacity to love without a soul. In School Hard we see the sharp contrast between his vicious brutality and the affectionate way he treats Drusilla. This is what makes Spike special. This is not debatable, Joss has said so. Whether that love, pre-soul, is selfless is debatable, but Spike certainly could love. He was completely devoted to Drusilla, constantly putting her needs before his own. Dru said that vampires can love (if not wisely). Spike allows himself to be tortured by Glory and refuses to reveal that Dawn is the Key, and Buffy recognizes the gravity of that in Intervention.
To be the reason Buffy started to like Spike was because of Power Play since she made herself in control and kept it that way only coming to Spike when she wanted to.
True that. Buffy was the "man" in the relationship.
