Today there is a festival in town celebrating the Moondyne Festival. When a criminal from England by the name of Joseph Bolitho Johns was transported here in 1865, he lived in the area near Toodyay known as Moondyne. Known as (A.K.A.) Moondyne Joe.

Is that the same Moondyne Joe that had the special cell in the Freo prison? Jarrah walls? Cos he kept escaping?

Did you go to the festival @ILLYRIAN ? What did they celebrate?

I think the only thing on around here today was pony club. I saw all the horse floats and kids with bows in their hair come through town this morning.

Thanks for the question @November,
yes he did have a cell lined specially for him, he was told that he'd be set free if he escaped from there, so he escaped.
I stopped going to the festival after they employed people who told facts they thought were correct, plus one stall was allowed to sell knives. There used to be a historical theme running through the festival that takes place in half the town of Toodyay.

Freo prison seems overhyped as far as prisons go... I think a fair few escaped 😆 although the last tour I did was the ghost/night tour so my memory might be surpressed by the trauma of that one. I screamed almost the entire time. Except when my friend got strapped to the cross and whipped, that was all giggles.

I know you didn't go to primary here, but maybe your daughter had to sing this at school too? It still pops into my head from time to time.
