My reasons are old news for Merrick heads, but I'll revisit it for outside the dorm talk.
I love history and ever since I saw the Indy movies and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicals as an impressionable youth, I thought I wanted to be an anthrapologist. Relics are related to that so that's a reason. It sounds more like a person than artifact or antique...I guess I just like the word alot more.
I'm thirty-something, not all that old, certainly not Relic like, but when you chase around a soon to be 3 and almost 8 year old, you sure the hell feel brittle and aged. (Chasing around the Hot wife who's 3 1/2 years younger doesn't help either and her whole "Your in your 30's and I'm not." tease has ingrained itself on my psyche and makes me feel older than I am as well.)
Lastly, though it might sound mopey, its not meant to be....Sometimes I feel like a relic, like an old part of history many people just pass by. I have my era of importance (My family) and I'm cool with that. I've accepted that my personality may not be that interesting/endearing/ whatever, or that maybe my real nature isn't very evident or even known...like a myster relic, (was it a toothbrush a nail buffer, what)
The oddest part is I kind of like the anonymity, in a way, As Xander said "I like the quiet."
That might be why I'm a 'relic'!
