What ethnicity are you?

Sicilian on my mothers side, Irish, Welsh and English on my dads.

@thrasherpix , interesting. I am Canadian. Jamaican on my mothers side, my brother did 23andme which said 49% Nigerian, 1% Chinese and 50%Dutch but who knows ours might be different. I am a fan of "Finding Your Roots" and "Who Do you Think You Are" because it demonstrates the value of lineage is in the fascinating world history.

I had a partner which one hell of a lineage, ranging from South America to Mongolia (and is generally described as "Blasian"). It was absolutely fascinating to me, but unfortunately her mother married into a really racist Korean American family (after she was already born) who abused her. They absolutely hated the term "Asian American" as they didn't want to be associated with the Japanese (among other ethnic groups), so my partner's mixed heritage was downright blasphemous to them. And her mixed heritage got her a lot of grief with the many small-minded peoples of the world, but her lineage was like a fascinating saga to me.

Ethnicity-wise, North & South Indian with Spanish and Russian roots from my great grandmother. In India, that's actually pretty mixed. My parents speak different languages (and look very different in colouring too - my mom is a Kashmiri Brahmin, dad's a Tamil-speaking Brahmin.)

In terms of broader "racial" heritage, India's mostly divided between the Indo-Aryan north (Ancestral North Indians) and Dravidian south (Ancestral South Indians). I guess that makes me both those.

Dutch. Like you can't get more Dutch than me and my family but ironically I am really not a big fan of the culture and its traditions.

it's the same for me :p
Anglo-Indian and Nepalese. My parents are Anglo-Indian (a mix of British and Indian) and my biological mother was Nepalese.

Hispanic (Mexican).

I did the ancestry test and it found I was like 30% Southern European (Italy/Greece), 19% Iberian (Spain), 21% Native American, and some middle eastern and even some Irish. My family goes back to Spain but that was 6 generations ago, those people were given a land grant to come to Mexico and there they stayed for generations while wars were waged and the border lands were disputed. It's all very interesting stuff.

I'm white and Scottish. British is a dirty word. 😛

Where I grew up there's a real mix of races - my dad's best friends growing up were Jamaican and Pakistani Scots, and he went to school in the 70s.

I'm Hungarian. My parents left the country with my brother back when it was under communist rule and lived in Austria, Germany and Sweden before coming to the US. I was born here but my mom and I still talk Hungarian. Well, she speaks Hungarian but I cheat and respond in English. 🙂
