Yep, both those explanations work for me, she goes off to be a ADA in NY for a while under an assumed identity then returns to LA to help Angel in season 6 as a supernatural version of The Punisher.

I've only read issue 1-26 of the Angel series, but I can tell you that's she's much less of a bitch/victim in the comics.

Yeah, I'm almost caught up and she's much more tolerable in the comics. I actually liked her appearance in After the Fall. 🙂
