Fracture - 7.5/10
A very intriguing little thriller from the mid-2000s. Great performances from a young Ryan Gosling and Rosamund Pike and a fun turn by Anthony Hopkins as the villain.
American Fiction - 8.5/10
A surprisingly touching and emotional little comedy, with some fantastic commentary on race and the way black authors and black stories are portrayed in today's zeitgeist. Some great performances too.

Underworld - 6/10
Not really my type of vampire film, and you can the The Matrix influences everywhere, but still a fun watch, and Bill Nighey's turn as an ancient vampire is a great watch.
Underworld Evolution - 6.5/10
Slightly improved sequel, I like that this one builds out the lore and branches out into new settings, but the "romance" between the two mains is still dull and I was much more interested in the secondary characters.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - 7.5/10
Definitely the best of the three, taking the focus away from Selene/Michael was smart, and I love that this is set in the past and is a great origin story for the war we see unfold in the earlier films.

Manhunter (1986) - 10/10
A different kind of Hannibal Lecter film and even better than Science of the Lambs IMO. Great music, atmosphere, acting and perfect slow burn pacing. The beauty and the beast style subplot works really well too.

The mummy (2017) 1.5/5
It is a Tom Cruise movie, so, yeah, it is almost identical to every Tom Cruise movie. Things explode, there is lots of running, stunts, action. A beautiful love interest. And some plot sprinkled in there.
Constantine (2005) 1.5/5
Lol. This was laughably bad. After John Wick Reeves has been so beloved by the internet, that I forgot there was a time when he was not and people would rather laugh at him for his acting in Dracula etc. This was in that category of acting. It was all just genuinely bad. I respect the attempt at being epic though.

Once was enough for me with the Cruise Mummy film. You nailed the main problem on the head too, that they tried too hard to make it into a Cruise style action film instead of a full on horror or a fun adventure movie like the 90s version.

The Mummy should NEVER be a fun adventure movie. It's horror. Make it horror. And it's not a comedy either like that Frasier crap.

The Bride Came C. O. D. (1941) - 7/10
Early comedies like this are now extinct and that's a shame because no one is funny anymore. This is the story of an oil tycoon's daughter who wants an impulsive marriage after knowing a bandleader for three days. They plan to get a charter pilot to take them to Las Vegas but the pilot, who is about to get his plane repossessed strikes a deal with her father to kidnap her and bring her to Amarillo. Chaos ensues when the pilot crash lands in a desert ghost town with one occupant. The police get involved in the kidnapping and the theft of the plane from the bank and the wedding is held there but they are still in California so it is not legal. A lot funnier than most movies with James Cagney and Bette Davis.

The year of MEH horror movies goes on. Also this film has one of my pet peeves. CHAPTER HEADINGS!!! 🙄. If I want to read a book, I'll read a book! The whole point of a movie is you go and get lost in it for 100 minutes/2 hours. Hipster BS😛

A teen classic. So dark, stylish and funny. Ahead of its time. Strong cast, and a great role for Shannen Doherty.

I love this movie, such a great black comedy with extremely fun performances from all the cast. One of my fave films.

This sequel was very meh. The change in direction style is jarring, Selene's characterisation is as flat as ever, the "villains" are bland and the story fairly unengaging.
Twilight - 6/10
I don't mind the first Twilight film, it has a more indie-feel, the score is beautiful and I like the direction. Kristen Stewart had more facial expression than I remember, but dear god RPatz is awful, he's supposed to be falling in love with Bella, but half the time he's around her he looks pissed off and the other half he looks nauseous.

Nooo RPattz is the best! Edward was supposed to look pissed off and hangry for Bella. I dont mind the first film either.

Gone on a bit of a movie binge as of late:
Charade - Audrey Hepburn, always a delight. 7.5/10
Practical Magic - 6/10
Top Gun: Maverick - 8/10
Spider-Man: No Way Home - 7.5/10
I'm Your Man - if you love a good foreign film, this is one. 8.5/10
Terminator: Dark Fate - Both Arnold and Linda have stated they're done with the franchise, and I don't blame them. Film is basically T2 with the genders reversed. There was no demand for this film. That said, Sarah's entrance in the film was badass. 6.5/10

I watched “Swimming Pool” (2003) last night. I got it from the library. I was a pretty good suspenseful thriller, with a twist at the end I didn’t see coming. I recommend.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon - 4/10
Ugh, I haven't seen this movie since my bestie dragged me to see it at the cinema years ago, and now I remember why I've never revisited it. Overly long, wangsty teen drama, which normally I don't mind, but since I don't buy the supposed "great love" between Edward and Bella, I can't buy her "depression" when he leaves. Also, all the comparisons to Romeo & Juliet in the movie a) show a complete misunderstanding of the play itself and b) only adds to the stupid wangst of the film.

Much more enjoyable, I was surprised at how this movie had a heavy horror-vibe to it and I really enjoyed that aspect. Jacob and Edward are both complete twats in this film, though, and I was rooting for Bella to dump both of them and get with Alice instead. Also, RPatz is still the worst actor of the bunch, the scene where Edwards proposes to Bella was the least romantic proposal I've ever seen, Edward looks like he's literally about to throw up during it.
