I was just watching "Not Fade Away" today on TNT. I started thinking about Lorne, and why he might have changed his mind about being the Fang Gang anymore.

Why did he leave and not come back? Is it because Fred died? Or is there something else that happened that might have caused him to leave the gang. He seemed like he was really enjoying himself for the most part at Wolfram and Hart.

Also, do you think that Lorne will be forever changed/different because he killed Lindsey? Lorne is a pretty mellow guy, and not really into killing (In fact, has he ever killed anything on the show before?) It is interesting that he did kill Lindsey and to think of how his character is dealing with this.

What are your ideas?

it just got so bad. in the episode with the halloween party (i think. i taped it and my video wasnt working properly) he seemed to be cracking up a little bit. i think the pressure of saving the world every 5 minutes and making really tough choices and of course killing someone, he just couldnt deal anymore. after all, all he used to do was pretty much party every night. reading a few people in the process.
but lorne is a peace loving guy. i think it just got too much for him.

As I see it he was doing fine when he had his bar and could help people getting back on track. But he was never the fighting-guy, he was more of a hiding-until-the-danger-goes-away-guy. But he just kept getting more involved in Angel and co. fights.. as I remember it you can see that he's becoming more and more unhappy in season 5, and I think finally he just realizes that it wasn't the place for him.. He only want to live a nice and kinda quite life drinking some sea-breeze...

I think the straw that broke the camels back for Lorne was Angel asking him to murder Lindsay, after Lindsay helped Angel off some of the Black Thorn.

Lorne has spent the last 4 seasons creating a HAVEN for both demons and humans alike..a place where violence was not allowed. And then he went out in the most violent of all manners...murdering an unsuspecting human. I think it was just too much for him and he had to go off and face his own personal demons, atone for what he had done in his own way.

Yes, that was exactly it! Angel crossed the line in asking Lorne to kill Lindsey
In the last season, Lorne fascinated me. He wasn't as happy-go-lucky as before, he was darker, he went to a darker place.... I don't know what happened to Lorne. He obviously didn't go back to Pylea.

I agree that the last two seasons were just too much for him. He lost quite a few friends, (Cordelia, Fred) and he had to do some things that the season 2 Lorne would never have done (join Wolfram and Hart, kill Lindsey). It all just added up and he didn't think that it was worth it. So he left. I can understand it, though. After presenting yourself as a peace-loving, completely nonviolent being, and then having to kill a human being ... it would definitely make me rethink some decisions, too.

I agree with what most people said. I think he just realized that he had a different path or role to play than the others. It just wasn't him. He did his part for a few years and now it was time to do it somewhere else. It didn't help that Fred and Cordy died either.

Lorne was never really cut out for the whole fighting thing. He was a lover not a fighter. It started to become obvious in Life Of The Party and after Fred died when he says how he is sick of always being the positive one or something like that
