Okay, anyone else bothered by this stupid wide screen youtube? Seriously, most of my favourite videos look so stupid on it!
And I just hope there is a way to switch this off!
 
it doesnt actually bother me but thats because im used to watching things in widescreen but they shoudl ahve and option where you can set your youtube to widescreen or normal
 
It's good in that you can now see movie trailers, etc without the sides getting clipped off...but yeah, it's not really aesthetically pleasing if the vid doesn't fit those proportions.
 
Oh dear god, I know! It annoys me so much, I hope they change it back soon.
 
Sometimes I think maybe Google (owns YouTube now) should consider the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I love it.🙂 So what if it gives you black borders down the side? Widescreen is better. :biggrin:
 
I don't mind. Seriously, I don't. And like Goldenboy says, at least now you won't miss half (litterally) of film trailers etcetera
 
I hadn't even noticed... I'm beginning to notice that I'm not a very observant person...

Ok, so I had a look, and I can see the changes that have been made. It does seem a little strange that they've changed it when it hasn't really been necessary. I guess the youtube guys just ran out of stuff to do!
 
I am now in love with Youtubee episodes of the UK Office AND Extras as well.

It has Absolutely Fabulous too.

I am sure if I root around I'll find more BBC gems.

It's not like it stretches out videos that are a 4:3 aspect ratio...the videos that can actually be viewed in widescreen look awesome...I don't see what people are upset about...
 
youtube is extra great lately with all the episodes of british comedies up, i would reccomend only fools and horses for the best of british comedy, plus its pretty fast loading and with the big screen and all, youtube rules

Yeah and whats great is IF you find someone who has them in player you don't have to click the next, it plays them in order for you.

One place mentioned that YouTube plans on adding movies and stuff for viewing, and therefore wanted the player to be widescreen. I personally like it. If the video doesn't fit the proportions, just make it fullscreen to fill your monitor. Very simple.
