Question What if a Vampire Loses their Heart for 5 Hours?

We know that if a vampire loses their heart, they are impervious for six hours and then dust. So what if they try to get it reattached after 5?

Didn't it sound like it couldn't be undone, when James accepted the price, or how it was phrased? So it can't be reattached? Maybe his life was the price?

I doubt that it was just as easy as ripping out his heart and then he'd be fine. It was probably done with magic.
