What if buffy killed katrina?

what do you think that could have happen if buffy really killed katrina? do you think that she went to jail?? and who do you think that would be in charge? in my opinion i guess it probably be willow... she had the power and everybody respected her..

Well it wouldnt be murder for a start. Although Im not sure how she'd explain what happened to the police. But to be honest, I dont think she'd even get that far. Spike would make sure of it.

Yeah I think this episode is a bit like when Faith killed Finch. Obviously Faith actually did kill Finch, but it she never realised what she was doing, kinda like Buffy here. I really wonder what would happen to her too.

ha, so weird, i just watched this ep last night and came here to start a thread about it! thanks angeldarla for getting there first!!

first of all, i don't know if Buffy would have actually gone to jail, 'cause as Wicked correctly pointed out, it wouldn't have been murder, it would have been manslaughter, or death by reckless slaying, or somethng, lol.
anyway, my issue deals more with Buffy's actions directly after. She thought she'd murdered an innocent woman, so her first thought was to turn herself in. she couldn't live with the fact that she had taken a human life, even if it was by accident. and of course this immediatly got me thinking about Faith, and her reaction to accidentally killing the deputy Mayor. her first thought was to hide the body and pretend it never happened.
so i put this question to the boards, what made Buffy react differently from Faith? was it the fact that she'd just returned from heaven? or maybe it has something to do with her friends and family and how her life before differed so much from Faith's. or was a completely personal reason? was Buffy tired to trying to fit back into her life after being pulled out of heaven? or was it an easy escape from her relationship with Spike?
she couldn't deal with how she was feeling, so maybe she decided that she didn't have to. i think maybe, deep down, Buffy wanted to believe that she had killed Katrina, just so that she didn't have to deal with everything anymore.

Well while obviously its a good thing that she wanted to turn herself in after it, it was kind of selfish (im not saying she shouldnt) My point is, she'd be leaving Dawn and the others alone. and the world would be Slayerless (Faith was in jail at this point too).

And ok, Faith's first thought was hide the body, but think what she was going through then. She was messed up. Seriously. Eventually though, she did turn herself in.

Its not as simple as they should or shouldnt have turned themselves in. It all depends on their situations at the time.

And yes, Im aware this may make no sense. I was kinda formulating an explanation while typing 🙂

I honestly believe that Buffy was done. She didn't want this life back. It was a way out but one she felt bad for. I think she would have turned herself in. What would happen after that? Leave it to the courts. I think at some point in all our lives we look for the quickest most convienient way out. Wether we wind up taking it is another story. But Spike was 100% right.

I agree. I think at some point Spike would have stepped in and stopped Buffy from making a mistake and ratting herself out. What would happen if Buffy did got to court for killing Katrina , Well for one thing Giles would have to come back to help keep the fact Buffy is a slayer a secret. How they would have done that I have no idea. It would have been interesting to see.

I don't think Spike could really stop the Buffster if she was convinced of going to jail. she made it to the station - otherwise she wouldn't have known about the "Trio" playing with the forces of death and what not.

But I think, seeing as Faith did the right thing - Buffy would too...but she should've called upon the council right away I think. That just seems like the most reasonable thing - as we saw in Season 3 this has happened before 🙂

I wonder. In many of this season's, Buffy is at her most content when she is separated from the people and world she knows. Sunnydale is like Hell to her after her brief stint in Heaven. Think of how happy she is in "Gone", when she turns invisible. And she works pretty hard to destroy her "Sunnydale fantasy" in "Normal Again". Was the prospect of going to jail perhaps another attempt at separating herself from this chaotic world of slaying, a disturbing yet realistic means of escaping the responsibilities that life has thrown upon her shoulders?

Well, if Warren hadn't killed Katrina, Buffy wouldn't have. Katrina would have tried getting warren arrested for attempted rape, and buffy and katrina would have never crossed paths..

Going back to Lyri's question about what makes Buffy and Faith different (about the need to turn themselves in and their actions after taking a human life).

Throughout the entire series, Buffy took her calling as something to balance out good and evil. She has always stated that being a Slayer is not being a killer. That her duty to save the world from vampires and demons does not give her any power over prosecuting and killing in the human category. I feel that this was just her own morals, that she knew she had no right to take any human life. And when something resulted in a human life being taken, the person who was responsible must answer to the human rules of consequence. That's why she wanted to turn herself in. Because it was the right thing to do.
