What If: Buffy lived with Hank instead?

Well, he was never around because of his job, so Buffy would have pretty much lived by herself. And I guess Spike would have killed her in School Hard.

i am not sure why i get that she would have died in school hard. Do you think Hank wouldn't have been at parent teacher's night? and if he was he wouldn't have gone after spike? I suspect Buffy's parents both have slayer genes so i think that he'd react to a threat too. (if the trait were not recessive, it would only require one of them to have it but there would be many many more potentials.)

I think he wouldn't have been around because of his job, so he couldn't have saved her. He'd have essentially failed as a father because his job would have been his priority. Joyce was there for Buffy, she was her priority, that's why she could protect her.

Now if we assume he'd be a totally different person in that scenario, it's of course a different story. So it depends on how we interpret the question.

I think he wouldn't have been around because of his job, so he couldn't have saved her. He'd have essentially failed as a father because his job would have been his priority. Joyce was there for Buffy, she was her priority, that's why she could protect her.

the Hank who moves to a small town to take care of his daughter is a very different animal than the LA exec. but who knows what he would have been like
