(What If) Buffy's 8th had happend on tv?

SMG doesn't sound "shocked" or "offended" to me. She seems cool with it. An actress who had kissed nother woman on TV and probably an award show won't have a problem doing it again, and I don't think she'd mind doing a sex scene with a woman. It's just acting.

I really doubt SMG would have agreed to Buffy's relationship with Satsu. She was shocked when a fan told her about the storyline at the Paleyfest, and I don't think she would have let that fly. I'm not saying SMG is in any homophobic, I would never say that without proof. It's just that she is kind of protective of Buffy, and I think she would have reacted like the rest of us did...it was just too out of character for Buffy to jump into bed with Satsu, especially considering the previous issue when she told the younger Slayer that there was no chance of them being together.

I agree that Satsu probably wouldn't have been a feature is a tv version of season 8th but not for the reasons above. SMG wasn't a producer on the show, she didn't have that kind of say in the direction of the character. She, in fact, tried that tactic when it came to Spuffy. She stormed up to the writers offices (I can't remember if it was Joss or Marti) and said that this (Spuffy) wasn't Buffy and and that Buffy wouldn't do that to Angel.

We all know how that turne out.

To be honest I think alot of season 8 wouldn't have happened and maybe parts of season 7. If we were to have a season 8 I don't think all the potentials would have been made slayers. The scope of season 8 is too wide...right down to the simple things like logistics. A castle...in Scotland? every epsiode would have God only knows how many different locations. That's a hell of alot of sets. I can't help but feel like we would be getting a completely different story if it had stayed on the air.

i entirely agree
I don't see the big deal where Buffy/Satsu is concered, it was obviously just sex for Buffy.

And I say it was obviously not "just sex," but I'm done fighting that battle. I only wish people had paid attention to the Buffy/Satsu scenes in "A Beautiful Sunset" and "Wolves at the Gate" where they weren't in bed together. Too bad. They missed out on a very nice, thoughtful and carefully told story with a lot of emotional resonance.

But given the ferocious opposition that storyline sparked to the very idea that Buffy could be gay or bi, you can imagine what the reaction would have been if it had been done on a TV series with 20 times the viewership of the comic and 20 times the media coverage.

I don't think even Joss would want any part of a fight with the militant "don't you dare ruin her with gayness" crowd. He caught enough heat over Willow.

I haven't started at buying/reading the comics but soon ll start BUT lovee spoilers😉

But to be honsest about the buffy and Satsu ( or any woman ) I think it totally out of buffy's character. Im not a anti lesbian or something i just don't think it's buffylike

The Dawn being a giant thing would be hard to make..They might even write so we never see her. I think we'd run into a lot of problems with the story, because in the comics they can do things they can't on tv, and if had been on tv, it would have been lame. They would have to do a lot of changes, and also deal with the problem that the actors would have other things to do.

If Buffy's 8th had happend on tv..Will don't be the same actors/actress.. Sarah Michelle Gellar i think she will don't play..If The season 8th happened on tv without the same actors will be different and i will hate it...

Someone said SMG was shocked to find out about the Buffy/Satsu thing, well it is pretty sad if you are Buffy and you do not take the time to even read your own comics. Second, I agree with her because I find it just wrong. So i guess I agree and also am angry with Sarah for her lack of care about Buffy.
(Reposting a comment I made back in January): SMG may not read the comics for the same reason I don't call my ex-coworkers from 6 years ago to see what the new guy is doing in my old position. It's a job, I rocked it for many years, I was good at it, my colleagues and I made a winning team, I had a lot of laughs, even some tears, learned some stuff, taught some stuff, and now it's been over for quite some time and I can look back with fond memories while I'm moving on with life.

And also? Sarah loves Buffy. Buffy was a very big part of her life for 7 straight years. She worked hard for the money, so hard for it, honey. But try not to let yourself trip up over whether or not she's reading the comics, because the reality is that it's a small thing that has no bearing on how strongly she feels about her work on the show.

I don't see any reason to make a big deal about Sarah Micelle Gellar not reading the comic books. It's her business what she does with her time. She gave fans seven years. She owes us nothing.

Now that that is out of the way, had they chosen to renew the show for an 8th season, it wouldn't even begin to resemble the comics. Shows do reinvent themselves from time to time but I just can't see Joss destroying Sunnydale that late in the run of the show. That would have involved moving the entire cast to new surroundings (fans tend to hate when shows do this, although it worked quite well for 24 this season but I think that's a unique case since all the action takes place over one day and thus doesn't involved some contrived "everybody ended up here storyline), and all the potentials becoming slayers? It was a nice idea to end the series on, but the show is called Buffy the Vampire Slayer for a reason. Have tons and tons of slayers and Buffy isn't so exceptional a heroine anymore. Finally, I really doubt they'd have decided to move Spike to Angel while Buffy was still going.

Im totally with you, i couldnt care less if she continues to follow her character. But I wont lie, I have a deeper respect for the actors who do (Seth, Nick) just because it means they care about the Buffy 'story' as much as I do, they wern't just doing their job.

I get what you're saying, and I respect Seth and Nick for that too. But I don't want to see people talking trash about Sarah just because she doesn't read comics. It doesn't mean that she didn't care about the show. Besides (and I'm not saying this applies to anyone in this particular thread), I've read some pretty nasty things said about actors/actresses before who wouldn't do a sequel to a movie, etc. The way some "fans" on the internet act, you'd think the poor people (actors) were pedophiles or something.

It would be amazing season with all the war with slayers i am seriously enjoying the comics lol
