What if Dawn were turned?

When Glory's minions trapped Spike, she told them the key couldn't be a vampire because it had to be pure. My question is, what would happen if Dawn were turned before Glory found she was the key? Would the key be destroyed because it was turned into something evil? Or would Dawn just die and not turn because the key is incapable of being evil?

I've always wondered what would happen if she died. I don't think it's ever mentioned on the show.

I guess she ages like normal people do though. Otherwise her and Xander's relationship is really gross, since she would otherwise still look 14...
 
I was always very interested by the idea of what would happen to The Key if Dawn had been turned. Didn't someone once say that The Key was energy, neither good nor bad? If that's the case, it kinda leads me to believe Dawn might be a pretty powerful (and evil) vampire. However, in "The Gift" they made it pretty clear that the portal wouldn't be closed til Dawn's blood was run dry, or until she died. Which makes me think that maybe if she was dead, The Key would cease to exist anymore.

Most coherent theory I've ever seen on the matter. Which ultimately makes it the least likely, Joss-wise, but amazingly good reality-wise.
I cant wait to see everyone theories on this. But I agree with [MENTION=8356]HisMrs[/MENTION], I think had Dawn died or been turned, the key would cease to exist. Or maybe all the energy from her body when she dies would open all the portals and start an apocolypse. I dont know.
 
She would have exploded.

Honestly, this has never occurred to me before. Maybe she would have just stopped being the key, as in her blood would no longer open the portal(s)? I can't imagine her just dying after being turned...that seems lame haha. In this "she stops being the key" scenario lights, fire, and electricity are involved. Far from boring.

I doubt she just ceases to exist. All that energy, it can't just disappear. Turn into something else, get split or something yes, but never go away completely. My money is on that she becomes that energy again, pre-season 5, if she dies a normal death. Maybe when being turned too.

It would be interesting if she, as a vampire, could control the power to open portals. Could make a very interesting arc, if Willow finds out that's possible, because that would be a way to get magic back. How far would Willow be willing to go to get magic back?

I smell a fanfic. Now I just need to get someone to write it.

I think her magical key powers would have ceased to exist. The key was made flesh and blood (Summer's blood as we all remember) and it must have more or less existed within Dawn's very being (I doubt she had a glowy green core, I would imagine it more or less permeated every fiber and strand that was her)

So, for me, if Dawn died (being turned her human self would technically die and though it is not explained on the show I can only imagine that the physical blood of vampires change in some mystical manner that allows them their immortality) her blood and being would cease to be who she was and her key properties would disappear.

I don't think she would cease to exist as a person though, I think that construct of the monks would remain like any shell (human) when a vampire takes over as they actually made her human.
 
That's an interesting question. I always wondered what would happen if she died, so I guess it's along the same lines. I'm guessing the energy would just be released and the Key would no longer exist. Glory would be stuck in our world.

Glory said the key has to be pure, so I don't think it would pass to another vampire.

I kinda feel like it would kill a vampire, like ingesting holy water. Since the key is holy, and pure, I think drinking Dawn's blood (infused with pure-y goodness!) would kill them.

I actually think if the show had gone on for a few more years, this would have made a great storyline... Especially if Xander and Dawn had gotten together on screen in Season 8 on TV, and then she had been turned. What some delicious drama that would have created. 😉

i honestly dont know what would of been if Dawn would of been turned but as a dawn fan i myself have to wonder.
 
I think the energy would be to powerfull for the vampire. He/she dies and become dust. Dawn would be fine! A evil demon vs ageold magic. Magic wins always!
 
You know I just had the thought that if Dawn was turned she and Harmony could run the least frightening and most annoying vampire gang together 😉
