What if Doyle didn't die?

Welsey is, in my opinion, the best character in the Entire show. Doyle, he was great and everything, but in no way does he compare to Wes. Doyle played out his role, and that was that. As for if Wes and Doyle could "work" together. I think absolutely. It would just be one more person on their team. I think Wes and Doyle could have become very good friends because neither of them are the strongest or anything, but they would still be able to play out there part without effecting the other. But it happened the way it was suppose to.

Right i just want to clear up a few things here from MY perspective..

My original post that seems to be the reason for me being personally attacked in this thread - remembering the ORIGINAL thread topic and that Buffy Summers had asked us to stick to the topic...

Again i say there would have been an actor change (Glenn had cancer as far as i know).. and as someone pointed out its not joss style to change actors although it could have been done if after being with the bomb he returned somehow (a few characters did - cordy buffy etc)but returned as a fulltime demon rather than a human/demon cause then the actor would be covered in makeup and it would allow for some kind of physical change - although i don't think him and cordy would have lasted as at that time she was too superficial to cope with dating a demon.

Where did I say he died of cancer?
Where did I say he had cancer and that was a fact?
Where did I say he did not have a drug problem?
Where did I say he did not die directly from an overdose for whatever reason?
Because I chose not to talk about his actual death and stick to the thread topic I am made to feel that I am wrong to post? Why is this ok?
What I was trying to say was that to me it made sence he was written out of the show if he had sever health problems and that due to this his character Doyle would go though a massive change if he had been kept on in the show. Why does this mean I did not read the thread read?

Please someone clarify what exactly I have done that is wrong here? I have been posting here for a few years now and if I have suddenly lost the plot then I think I need to know...

[Angel's vision]

The overall feeling I get of Angel towards Doyle is that he doesn't feel that strongly one way or the other about Doyle (I understand if someone disagrees with me, since we all have our own opinions, I just feel that Angel was rather neutral).

I feel that they both were quite alike in that regard, they both don't show emotion too well, or don't express it.
They must of had that connection where thy didn't need to say it.
in City of Doyle said about the importance of connecting with people interacting with them otherwise they would just become food.

Wesley was one person he could connect with Cordy another, in a different way, Doyle was an important part of his life, and to have both Doyle and Wes woulda been interesting,I think Wes woulda showed up regardless, and maybe he woulda joined the team, in spite of Doyle being there or not.But would it of cancelled out the season four arc..?

(In regards to what Foi has said well i read her post in question and i did not get the impression she was implying that Glenn had died of cancer it was i gather an article sepulating that, we all know he died accidently of a heroin overdose, so that's my two cents worth.)

Wes may have appeared on Angel later, but I'd be willing to bet money he wouldn't have come on when he did. It was just too obvious. One exits. One enters.

It just feels to me like they wanted to keep the ratio of 2 guys and a girl at that point. Actually throughout the whole of Angel that core ratio is there more than it's not. Perhaps this was a way of separating ATS from BTVS.

Do you think that maybe Glenn didn't want to play the part out any longer? Like, I know that there is some speculation that his drug-abuse was interfering with production, and I know that they were planning on killing him off anyways. But, do you think they killed him off a little sooner than expected? To me, his death just seemed so sudden. Maybe it was suppose to be sudden. What do you think?

I didn't feel it was too sudden i mean look how they killed Fred off in one eppy! The team planned it that way i think to make it that way so we feel the emotional impact it had on Angel and Cordy.

(P.S go easy on Foi she is pregnant and probably feeling sensitive)

If doyle hadn't died then I dont think one thing in the world of angel would have been the same, afterall that was probably one of the most important events in either series, I mean if you really think about it everything that happened in angel from that point was a consequence of that event, especially the events of the last episode

They would eventually get together later in the series. They obviously rushed "the kiss" cause they had to get Glenn off of the show quickly.

There is no 'obviously' about it.
I would suggest you watch that entire arc again.

Even though Doyle was a likeable character I think his death was necessary to the show's development...it would not have been the same had he stayed.

It was a pivotal point that was genuinely needed at that point to give the show a true sense of what it was to become.
That death is the point at which Angels show changes from a simple spin off to a great stand-alone show.

The thing that stands out to me most as a consequence of him not dying would be great big glass bulb killing all things in the room including Angel, which wouldn't have left much to continue the Angel series.
