The show would have been overrun with yet another slayer.
Would you have said "that's insane!" and given up on the show?
How many slayers can we have on this show without going bonkers? Three was the limit if you don't count the wanna-bes from the last half of season 7.
Could you have accepted another one after Faith?

I really like Faith, but I still think it would have been interesting for a new slayer. I'd be especially interested to see the Scoobies reaction to faiths death and see Buffys reaction to a new slayer. I mean if I was Buffy I'd be wary of a new slayer after Faith which may make this new girl whoever she is behave in unexpevted ways. Then again if the new slayer was one of the otentials from series 7 I may not have been to happy, unless it was the chinese girl, molly (cos i love clalra bryant) or Amanda, but knowing my luck it would have been Kennedy lol

About it being bonkers bit I wouldn't agree simply on the grounds thta it would be logical

If Faith had died, one of the potentials would have been called. So there would be no more than we already had by the end anyway.

But that would mean Faith would have to die. And that would be too easy. She was still rehabilitating from her murderer days. Death would be a good thing. Like in Angel when she tried to get him to kill her.

I think I actually see your point. It got kind of murky as the series went on - when and how two (or more) vampire slayers could exist at the same time, who is the TRUE slayer and so on. The whole concept of THE Chosen One, the one and only CHOSEN ONE was only unambiguous in Season 1 of the show and until Kendra appeared in Season 2.

If Faith had died fighting Buffy, I would have been dismayed not just at her death, but the fact that Buffy had killed one of her own. As the series went, I was shocked at the way Buffy went after Faith in "Graduation Day Pt. I". It looked to me like she was fully intent on killing her. Compare that with what Buffy says to Willow and to Dawn in Season 6 "Villains".
