First, let me start by saying that I love Faith's entire arc: her rise, her fall, her redemption, everything. But there's a realm of what ifs to be explored and one that has been troubling me for some time is what if Faith had stayed evil? What if, after she woke from her coma in Season 4, she decided to take some time off to plot her revenge against Buffy for killing the Mayor? What would happen?

For Faith to work as a longterm villain, they would have to make her more slick and calculating, not just channeling her aggression. Therefore, my idea for an evil Faith arc would be her teaming up with Ethan Rayne, in a sort of twisted variation on the Buffy-Giles relationship. The Mayor was Faith's Joyce and Ethan is her Giles. Over time they create their own evil Scooby Gang.

Faith - Buffy
Ethan - Giles
Amy - Willow
Warren - Xander
Halfrek - Anya
Drusilla - Spike

All this culminates in a showdown between Buffy/Giles and Faith/Ethan.

I still wouldn't kill Faith off, though. She could be like the Joker of the Buffyverse in that she always gets away even when the heroes have a perfect opportunity to stop her.

What are your ideas for an Evil Faith storyline?

I like your ideas. This would be a cool alternate universe. I love you Evil Scooby Gang line up. And yea having her get away and keep returning like the Joker would be great.

I'm not really sure that Faith and Ethan would make all that good of a team, mostly because I just can't see her trusting someone like him. For that matter, Faith never really struck me as a team player, regardless of whose team it was, for more than a short time. Either intentionally or by accident, her relationships, and not just the romantic ones, never seem to last very long.

Strictly speaking, Faith and The Mayor don't seem at all like two people who would trust one another, and yet, look what happened. Of course, after The Mayor's death, Faith would never look up to Ethan as a father figure, and she probably wouldn't trust him on a certain level, but they would connect over wanting revenge on Buffy and Giles, respectively, just as Faith and the Mayor were able to connect over him being the father Faith never had and Faith being the daughter the Mayor always wanted.

I never really saw Faith as evil in the first place. But had she kept being the "rogue slayer", than I think I would have preferred for her to act alone. I do like the idea of the Joker type of character, where Faith is Buffy's arch nemesis.

She was never evil to me either, it just seemed like a simpler name for the thread. Didn't want to call it: What if Faith had stayed troubled? ;)
Hm, I can't imagine any good "Evil Faith" storylines sadly. It would have just gotten old so fast. (Kind of like Cole on Charmed, for those who watched that. It was like evil-no good-no evil-no wait, kind of good?- no, no definitely evil!) I just think it's hard to keep an 'evil' character around for a long time, and keep them interesting, because you either have to make them kind of inept or use them very sparingly.

I like the idea though, of her working with Ethan Rayne, if that had happened! I liked Ethan so I think that would've been an interesting double-crossing kind of dynamic. Question is - who would've double crossed whom first? 😉

I found the Cole storyline on Charmed quite exhausting to watch as well.
