What if Oz stayed in LA?

Season 1 Angel, Wesley, Gunn and season 3 Fred.
OK, which one of them do you see going to Wolfram and Hart?

Oz was around during season 1 Angel so is it still really that hard to imagine that 4 years of character growth and the need within the story would make it still hard to imagine.

Good point, nicely made.

Not one of Angel's team would originally have been a likely candidate for W&H. In fact compared to Wes and Fred as we originally met them I would say that Oz was actually a more likely candidate. He at least had real demon inside him and would therefore have been that much more easy to corrupt.

I really don't agree. I think the chances that the Oz we knew would take a position at Wolfram and Hart being very very slim. I apologise for butchering the english language with that last sentence, it makes sense to me, what else matters?

Cheating on Willow aside, I think Oz has a set of moral standards that he would not compromise.

Only as long as his human side was the controlling force. It was suggested that, in the Buffyverse at least, the longer a person has the "wolf" demon inside, the stronger it's influence becomes. Who can say how well Oz's morals would have been holding up three or four years after we last saw him. Wes in season one and Wes in season five had radically different moral values and that was without the added pressure of a demon inside him. Had Oz been a part of Angel's team he might also have had his beliefs and ideals altered to a point where he would have been willing to give W&H a try.

Do we know why Oz lost control of the wolf in 'New moon rising'? Because it seemed that he had learned how to control it.

OK, I didn't read this thread properly, actually I still haven't. Looking at the title and your post, I realise its about Oz joining Angel's gang from season 1 onwards. In which case, I can only agree that his world view would be radically different. I really don't think the Oz we knew would have any part of Wolfram and Hart. The Oz that could have been with the influence of Angel and crew? Then yeah, I'll have to concede its a strong possibility.

Well, the New Moon Rising thing was down to jealousy and anger over finding out about Willow and Tara, which actually goes to prove that if Oz is sufficiently influenced then his inner wolf definately does become dominant, which would make him a lot more open to Wolfram and Hart.

But, yeah, you are right that it is really unlikely that the Oz we knew when he left the series would have gone to W&H. Never would have happened.

I only used them as at the time they'd just been voted 'Coolest Couple' by a magazine.
I was actually going for a talented Musician with an air of 'coolness', which Doherty at the very least WAS, and some stunning beauty queen.

I don't entirely understand your point, so i'm going to assume(which may be wrong) that you mean Oz's character growth that would lead him to be a member of W&H would be bad....no, I wouldn't say so. Team Angels growth isn't in a 'bad way' yet they end up there. My point is, had Oz stayed with the group from 'In the Dark' he'd just as easily been tempted to join the gang under the banner of doing the right thing with those resources.

HAVING said that, I do believe that it would have been interesting if one member of Team Angel had opted out. Had said they didn't want to join W&H but still remained with in the show.
I guess that was Spikes character kinda in that he is constantly pulling on the gang being at W&H, but he really couldn't say anything because he hadn't been there that entire time.

With the character list we had of Angel, Gunn, Fred, Wes and Lorne, it would have been odd if one of them had said no, and broke off from Team Angel, but I guess it would have been interesting if, say, someone like Oz had been there from the beginning and turned down the offer, but still keeping the Demon fighting going. Oz butting heads with Angel over things like they did with Angel and Spike.
 
This sure is a hard topic. We all have different ideas of the Oz character and since we have to imagine how he'd turn out, it is interesting to see what everyone else thinks. ^_^

I love this Forum! Finally, some uber-Buffy fans who I can talk to! *glee* 😀
