What if Pacific Rim took place in the Buffyverse

- After the destruction of Sunnydale a new Hellmouth located within the Pacific Ocean was opened.

- The Pan Pacific Defense Corps would've been evolved from both The Initiative and Watcher's Council.

- Mako Mori is a Slayer whereas Pentacost is her Watcher.

- After attacks from gargantuan demons, The Scoobies realize that this threat is incapable of being defeated by them alone, and they need both efforts from all humans.

- Newton could be an apprentice of Xander Harris which would explain his enthusiatic attitude.

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure how the Slayer story line, with its traditional (as in primitive) use of edged weapons and hand to hand fighting against mostly human sized demons would transfer over to a Slayer fighting Godzilla sized from inside a giant robot, especially with the kind of support team that there was in "Pacific Rim." then there's the anonymity that goes with the Slayer. Still, the Mayor Worm and the guy that got turned into a giant underground slug in Season t weren't typical of the usual Whedonverse demons.

Still, I guess it could have been worked out, with enough imagination and a whole lot of suspension of disbelief.

This could work I guess- just tweak the monsters and say that they're returning Old Ones, and the slayers now use giant robots to stop them. (Isn't that better than giant Dawn wrestling with one of them?)
I thought it was kinda strange how in the movie the most effective weapon that the robots had was a melee weapon that was used right at the very end. Very slayer-like.

Not really that strange. In close quarters, edged weapons and bludgeons have always been the best choice. As the great Jim Bowie always said, rifles ans pistils can misfire. A knife never does. In Viet Nam, there was even a resurgence of using tomahawks in close combat. The old ways are still quite often the best.

But I'll still take a sniper rifle at 200 yards as my first choice.
