What if there was a Buffy spin off about another slayer?

Would that be a good thing? Would a past or future slayer be better? Fray or someone else? What period would you want it to be set in?

It all depends on who was on it, and who was behind the writing. If there was no Joss, forget about it. I'm not saying that we need the entire original casts back, but it would be nice to see them pop in once in a while

I'd watch it, for sure 😀. I'd say a future slayer would be more interesting than a past slayer. Mainly because if it was a past slayer, we know that they're doomed right from the get go, so there'd be a bit more dramatic tension if it was a future slayer (not necessarily Fray, but a Post Season 7 slayer would be interesting, as long as there isn't too many Slayers 😛)

Are they all doomed? Or just dead because they were born 500 years ago? Maybe the show could have the watcher as the main character and he gets through several slayers!

You could have a new slayer lasting half an episode and he's all "Oh, for goodness sake!"

I've always thought a Tales of the Slayer would make a great series, maybe like a Mini Series of 12 episodes, each one focusing on a different Slayer.

At this point Joss has enough credibility to me as a fan that I'll give anything he writes/directs/produces a shot, regardless of my doubts over it. I thought Dollhouse was a stupid idea when I first heard about it, but because it was done by Joss, I gave it a chance and wound up liking it. Anything he does that's involved with Buffy, Angel or the Buffyverse in general, I'm there.

That said, I still have a distant hope that the Buffy franchise will be revived in some form or another with some of the same actors. I know it's a long shot, but I can always hope. Until then, the comics are just fine.

If it happened I guess I'd like to see a past slayer (even though we know that most slayers pre-Buffy died young) but only because I'm not keen on what went down after season 7 in the comics. Multiple slayers? Zompires? Bah.

I like fredthe3rd's idea of a Watcher being the main character, that could be interesting.

How about England in the 1940's? I'd like to see a British Slayer with an Irish Watcher (bit of Irish/British tension potential there) going to occupied France to slay nazi vampires with the help of some friends in the French resistance!
(My imagination just went bonkers)

Unless it was Faith, I wouldn't want it. I think she's the only truly interesting & complex character that's a slayer that could actually hold their own show.

I'd love to see a story about another Slayer. I think it would be awesome to see the story of the Slayer who came right before Buffy.

I believe that the only real possibility of us ever seeing another Buffyverse show will be if it centers around the activities of one or more new Slayers, with the possibility of one of the original cast as a support character, something like having Xander, Dawn, or maybe Gunn serve as their Watcher, mentor, trainer, partner or something of that nature.

As for Joss' participation in the project, I would be just as happy with him serving as Executive Director, with an occasional script or episode that he directed. Some of the best episodes in the "Star Trek" franchise had no involvement by Gene Roddenberry at all, and some were even done after his death. Joss is good, and he has a special feel for Buffy and her universe, but he is hardly irreplaceable. In fact we would almost certainly stand a better chance of seeing one or more new Slayers in a movie or TV series if his participation, given all of his other current projects, were kept at a minimum. Certainly, I wouldn't want some shoddy, half assed rip off of the story that we all have grown to love, but there are other writers and directors who could do just as good, or even a better, job while still staying within the established guidelines.

I agree with this. While I'd love on board as much as possible, he was clearly a step removed from the production of Angel for most of that series. I mean, he was obviously a presence as an executive director/producer, but many of the great Angel episodes weren't written or directed by him. There were a number of writers/producers who "got" the feel of Angel just as well as Joss did.

Personally, I think that it would only be successful if it was based around Faith or a slayer in the passed. I would love to see a faith spin off. I think I remember reading that joss wanted to do a spin off with eliza but she wanted to do something different so she decided to work on tru calling, which was pretty amazing too.
