What if you favorite non-canon shipping happened? How would that work out?

Not talking about what kind of fanfics you like to read, but how would that have been played out on TV/in the comics, written by professional writers who aren't out to fullfile fan needs, but write a believeable great story.

My thoughts:
I can't decide which ship is my favorite, but I pick Spawn(Spike+Dawn) and how it could be played out in the comics (on the show it would have been a bit icky, since she's too young, nevermind that Bangel happened when Buffy was Dawn's age).

I pick that ship since it's not as "unbelieveble" as some of my other favorite ships (one of them Xander+Angelus+Spike). I've never seen them have any chemistry on the show, just some potential friendship going on, but I just like the idea of them together.

I think there would be a huge issue with the attempted rape on Buffy, and also that Spike used to date Buffy. I can also see Xander trying to stake Spike (out of jelaousy or overprotectiveness, in case they feel out of love before Spawn happened).

I think it could be interesting, and pretty good drama. Sure, we've already have a lot of triangle dramas on the shows (Angel/Buffy/Spike, Angelus/Drusilla/Spike, Gunn/Wesley/Fred, Angel/possessed-Cordelia/Connor, Lilah/Fred/Wesley and probably more I've forgotten) but I would like to see this play out. It's kind of a foursome drama actually, in case Xander would still be in the picture.

Here's an idea:
Spike is hanging after Buffy as usually, in season 9. He and Dawn has a talk about the attempted rape thing, and Dawn tries to forgive him. Xander hates that they're talking to each other. Maybe he unconsciously feels that there's something there. Then Spike & Buffy start to date. Angel is in London, being depressed, out of the picture. Buffy still loves him, but can't stand being in the same country as him and doesn't see that changing.

Spike & Buffy stats to date. Spike starts noticing Dawn. And Dawn sees him too (I can see a funny walking-in-on-Spike-coming-out-naked-from-the-shower scene happening). They both thinks it's icky, with Spike having seen her as a child for so long, and his great love's little sister, and Dawn seeing him as a potential monster that hurt her sister(I think this needs to be dealt with, since fans would have the same problems). Maybe they admit the chemistry between them, talk about it, and decides that it's nothing. They are both happy with the relationships they have.

The story moves on (it's not like this would happen in just a couple of issues, the story above should have taken a arc or two) and everything seems fine. Maybe Buffy and Xander sees that there's something between Spike & Dawn and worry a bit (maybe they act a certain way around each, not even knowing it themselves, sharing laughs and becoming friends). Anyhow, let's say something happens. A quick kiss, almost by accident or a event like in Lover's walk with Willow & Xander; a dangerous situation turns romantic. They regret it right away of course. Spike hates the idea of cheating because of Drusilla's lust after Angelus, and Dawn has been down that road before.

Dawn is full with guilt. Spike keeps his mouth shut, not willing to risk Buffy & his relationship, but Dawn tells Xander & Buffy. Hopefully this brings up Buffy trying to seduce Xander. I think Dawn thinks she understands what happened, but repressed her fears, up until now.

The reveal causes mayor drama. Maybe Xander & Buffy want to take a break from Spike & Dawn, and breaks up with them.

Spike is mad at Dawn, they argue, and ops! Angry sex. Then regret. Lots of it. But less than they both expected. Then things go from there, with continued drama, and Spike loving Buffy and Dawn loving Xander, but the chemistry between Dawn & Spike won't go away. Maybe in the end, they stop fighting it. But since it's a Whedon story and there's no happy ending, I'm guessing that either Spike or Dawn moves away from San Francisco and starts anew (spin offs!). Hopefully, they end up together in the last season, or atleast one of them meet someone. I really think Spike deserves a healthy relationship for a change, so if not with Dawn, maybe Buffy, or someone entirely new.

I can see this happening, in case Joss decided the relationship should be explored. Am I being too unrealistic? There's no need to get this deep into the pairing; maybe they just feel attracted to each other, no romance, and Dawn wants revenge for some reason (maybe the Xander seduction) and seduces Spike, who may or may not be dating Buffy.

I've said this before, but I think that a romance between Spike and Faith could be really interesting, if it were done right, as a parallel to Spuffy. Since (at least this is my take on what Buffy and Spike had during Season 6) Buffy had tried to emulate Faith's attitude toward and approach th, sex, mostly "Slam, bam, thank you, ma'am, now get out. I've got to take a shower," all physical contact with no emotional content, Spike and Faith's relationship should be almost exactly the opposite: total, sloppy, silly, holding hands in the movies, one milk shake and two straws, little private jokes that keep them chuckling and hugging all the time and everyone else just confused and frustrated. Sex, once it actually did happen, which wouldn't be immediately, of course, rather something gradually built up to over several weeks, would be slow and gentle (okay, slow and gentle at first, gradually building up to the monumental, screaming, clawing, biting passion. This IS Spike and Faith, after all, arguably the two most passionate people in the entire Buffyverse) so beautiful and tender that the very gods on Mount Olympus would weep at the sheer
beauty of it.

And where would our darling Buffy be during all of this romance, you might ask? Well, she's outside, standing in the shadows, under a big tree, all alone and forlorn, and even crying occasionally, finally realizing what could have been hers, if she hadn't let it slip right through her fingers.

And lest we forget Ol' Broodie, he's in Las Vegas with Nina on their honeymoon, celebrating his recent Shanshu, until, in a moment of extreme sexual passion, Nina accidentally bites him. Now they're BOTH werewolves. But that's a story for another time.

Oz and Tara. I think it'd be interesting to see them bond over Willow's addiction to magic and grow closer.

*cringes at the thought of Spike and Faith*
I actually thought Spike and Faith were gonna hook up when she came back in S7 and if they did I was driving to Sunnydale myself and chopping her head off. That's how I felt about that haha.

I wanted Buffy and Xander to hook up at least once. I mean come on how can Buffy be friends with Xander for so long and be aware of the fact that he really likes her (I believe he liked her in all seasons, even when he was with Anya) and not act on it? Xander is a good guy and I think that is one relationship for Buffy that would really work out 🙂 and he wouldn't have to worry about getting himself killed trying to help her cause he does that anyway, and look how far he's made it!

Faith/Willow.

I think they would have been good for each other. After what Willow had done in season 6, they had a shared experience, a shared pain. They've both touched that darkness and come back from it.

I think the perfect time for the two of them to get together would have been at the end of Orpheus on the way back to sunnydale. They had all that time alone.

SPARA!!!!!! OMG you have no idea how much I wanted Spike and Tara to have gotten together!

I think the best time would have been right after Older and Far Away. All those jokes between the two and then them playing cards together, it is the perfect time for Spike to want to make his move on Tara. Tara being the little delicate flower she is, it would have been a huge breath of fresh air for her to date Spike. Whether or not it's to make Willow jealous, or if it was to actually question her sexuality, it's the perfect time! I can't think of a better way for their relationship to start off 😀

The other one I would have to say is Fred and Willow. When Willow goes to help re-ensoul Angel OMG that's the perfect time for Willow to have gone out for coffee or something with Fred the next day, have a great time. Then Willow would have gone back home to Kennedy, thinking about Fred, and then Fred is all sad, and Willow is all like "Kennedy I hate you" and leaves her and goes back to Fred and asks to further their relationship, get in touch with their feelings. 😀

Aww, no worries hun. :)
Fangel. Coulda been AMAZING! But the way the comics are looking, they might just go there... which makes me SO excited! I dislike both Faith and Angel... but I believe they bring out the best of each other and a Fangel relationship could have been amazing. I think Faith should have stayed with Angel's gang and been rehabilitated and started her redemption that way instead of just staying in jail. And there was all that sexual chemistry floating around... it's only natural it would happen. If it did, it would have been the best relationship on Ats. No doubt.

I ditto the dislike (more of a indifference towards Faith though) but that relationship would be interesting.

I would have love to see that instead of Cangel in season 3 of Angel. Her messing with his head, making him stutter constantly, making Angel "let his hair down".

I love them in fics, but on the show, I think it would have ended badly.

As seen in season 6, Spike doesn't have that line that most people seem to have, the "The girl I'm dating hates me and we're both miserable in this relationship so I need to end it"-line.

If he wanted her, and went after her, I think he could seriously mess her up, trying to lure her to the "dark side" like he did Buffy. I think she would be very against that, and considering her upbringing I think she might have killed herself of fear of becoming like him, or being in a abusive relationship that she can't get out off.

So I'm thinking, unless Spike would have had a change of hearts as he did in Seeing Red, a epiphany of sorts, he wouldn't have even seen the signs until he walked in on Tara dead, wrists slashed. Unless Tara would have told the others, and they would have killed Spike instead. But I think, specially if Spike seduced Tara and they slept together, she might have been too ashamed too tell, specially if he had feelings for him too. Maybe she would even avoid to tell anyone because she didn't want him dead?

It would have been similar to the Spuffy relationship, but I think that Tara's a bit weaker than Buffy, willpower wise, so it could have been even worse. Because I'm not sure if Tara would have fought back the way Buffy did, trying to be independent, she might just have become apathetic instead, depressed that she either lets Spike dominate her, or that she likes being with him too much.

I think that's how their relationship would have turned out on the show, but I do adore the fics where her kindness makes him kind as well. And she did suprise us several times with her strength. Who could see have guessed that the wallflower from season 4 would stand up to a ex-demon and stand up to and leave the woman she loved? Maybe she could have tamed Spike, instead of it being the other way around? In my scenario above, I assumed that Tara would be aware of what he trully was the entire time, but maybe she would have been in denial; thinking of Spike as harmless and nice, instead of dangerous and repulsive(which he was, being a murderer and probably rapist as well), which the scoobies seemed to do sometimes. I find that unlikely, since she never seemed to think Spike was harmless, just because she never said "Kill him". Her reaction to thinking Buffy was sleeping with Spike in Intervention lead her to say Buffy was nuts for doing it. On the other hand, she did seem fine with Spike in Older and Far away, joking about the cramp, even though Buffy had cried in her lap about their relationship.

That always weirded me out; in one ep they're buddy buddy with Spike, almost seeming to forget what he is, but when he got his eyes on Buffy, it's like they all of a sudden remembered what he's capable off. But hey, I was able to joke around with bullies in high school, even though they made me consider suicide most of the time, because of the bullying; sometimes people turn off the voice saying "The person you're talking to is evil." Not sure Tara could have done that in a relationship though.

Spangel! Although I don't think Joss is risque enough to risk it unfortunately, so I'm not sure how it actually would have played out. Gay relationships seem to cause so much taboo where as lesbians are almost normal on tv now. Strange.

Anyway, I would have loved to have seen spangel develop through season 5 of AtS where they were both in similar boats (metaphorically, I'm not referring to the crappy episode in the submarine), with Spike turning to Angel when he thought he was getting sucked to hell and Angel hugging him. Spike shrugging it off, but then re clasping Angel the second Angel went to let go. Perfect couple!

LOL @ "the crappy episode in the submarine" and I am totally down for Spangel!
I would have liked to see Xander become gay instead of Willow. Willow already got the magic storyline going for her, but poor Xander got nothing. Besides, seeing a boy who's not a gay cliché struggle with his homosexuality is more interesting and realistic.

It's gonna go like this: Anya comes back for Xander, who -like on the show- is more reluctant to have her back. Xander cheats on her with Spike in Hush or Doomed, poor Anya finds comfort with Giles and eventually they become a couple -yay, Giles won't be alone!- Xander and Spike's sex was just a onetime thing and Spike leaves after he realizes he can hurt the demons. Xander hooks up with another guy who's gonna be Xander's S4 honey -new character- and that makes Spike jealous without realizing it. Eventually Spike ruins Xander's relationship with the guy, and Xander declares that he could never be with someone as spiteful and selfish as Spike. Spike realizes that he's in love with Xander by the end of S4 and S5 will be about how Spike wins Xander's trust and love.

Great idea! You go write that fanfic right now! ;) I could see that happening on the show. I can even imagine people hating on Xander being a cheater again, discussing it on forums, like we do other stuff. :D

I have already written a fic similar to it. 🙂 I'm working on the last chapter right now.

I don't think so. The first chapter is NC 17, even though the rest of the chapters are PG 13. The forum rules are against NC 17 writing. I can PM you the link to it in my LJ if you want. 🙂

Actually, I probably won't read until the last chapter is finished. I hate waiting.

I really thought after the scene of them on the bed smoking cigarettes that they were gonna hook up. I mean, it's obvious that they both are very sexually attracted to each other, just from the flirting. I think they would've worked, if they had actually written it with them in mind being a long-term couple.
