What if Xander was a main character on Angel?

The major bad thing about this idea though, is that we'd have Angel, Spike, and Xander get over Buffy over the course of the show, only to completely regress as characters in TGIQ.

I know this is somewhat off topic, but I feel like what Xander became on Buffy is what Cordy became on Angel. Just a character by the wayside. Yeah, Cordy had the visions, but not much else until the randomness of s4.

I dunno, Willow. Cordelia was more relevant on Angel than Xander was on Buffy while the shows were running simultaneously.

I dont know about that.

Xander had nothing to do in all of seasons 5,6, and 7, except for 2 or 3 moments where Joss remembered about him.

- Cordelia had her short romance with Doyle
- Gets her life put into perspective in "To Shanshu in LA"
- Gets fired by Angel and starts her own agency with Wesley and Gunn
- Becomes the Princess of Pylea for a couple episodes
- Starts her relationship with Groo
- Becomes part demon
- Becomes a mother figure to Connor
- Her and Angel start to fall in love
- Gets all possessed and starts to do crazy sh*t (season 4 was a mess for Cordelia)
- Comes back for one epic episode and puts Angel back on his original mission

I liked Xander in the early seasons. I felt he had lots of potential, but Joss dropped the ball with his character, big time.

I feel like Cordy was wayyy secondary though. Angel, Fred, Wes, they all had more going on.

Our discussion was about how you felt Cordelia and Xander became "wayside" on their respective shows, I disagreed and gave my points. How come your talking about Angel, Fred and Wes now? You're supposed to be defending Xander, right? 😕

I'm saying I feel Cordelia's drama took a backseat to the drama of the others in the show, just as some believe that Xander's drama took a backseat to the drama of Willow, Buffy, and Dawn. Do you understand my comparison now?

I don't. Cordelia had whole episodes that depended completely on her character. And she became the glue of Angel's sanity. Xander... Not so much for Buffy.

Well, that's your opinion, and I can respect that. I just feel like Cordy was kinda left behind sometimes. Not all the time.

Less than Xander though, right? Also, it's not really opinion, because Cordelia is actually the main focus of several episodes.

Well, it is an opinion, because I feel differently. Everyone sees things differently. Everyone has their own views.

And I did say that until the arc of s4 she's kind of ignored. Not always, but neither is Xander. There are episodes that involve Xander primarily. Look at Hell's Bell's. Also, Entropy involves mostly Xander and Anya.

Just because your opinion differs from mine doesn't necessarily mean I'm wrong and you're right. It's a discussion.

And I had no intention of making such a statement. But Cordelia does take strong focus in more than two or three episodes in every season. Except 5.

I am a big Xander fan but anyway I think that he is a BTVS character. Not an Angel one. I would be very happy if he appears in some episodes, but not in all!

It's interesting that this was brought up.
I always imagined what would've happened to the Buffy cast if Season 5 had been the final season. I imagine (Since none of the actors would be under contract with a different network), Joss could have included Xander, Willow, and some of the others on Angel to keep their storylines going.
I imagine that there could have been a scenario where Xander cheats on Anya with Cordelia, Anya becomes a Venegance demon out of spite, then Cordelia cheats on Xander with Angel, and everyone becomes confused about who they like. that could've been neat to see happen.

Yeah, Xander would not have worked in Angel. Mainly because they hate each other 😛 It's kinda like "this is my show, I don't want him in my show!"

I think what could've been fun would be to have Xander (probably begrudgingly) go to LA at some point in the storyline to interact with Angel and the gang for an episode or two. His reaction to a more matured Cordy would definitely have been fun, especially if he showed up around the time she and Angel were realizing their feelings for one another. I could see him feeling like a bit of a dope for messing up what he had with Cordy since she became such a strong, much more likable person.

I don't see why the "they hate each other" excuse as valid. Don't Angel and Spike hate each other, too? It's just an excuse. I don't think Xander should be one of the cast, that show had too many men. They're desprate for a woman. But I'd have loved to see Xander crossover for an episode, especially one with Cordelia in it. It's not always about Angel! Cordelia should have had an episode interacting with her ex, too.

I think it could have worked, but at the sametime Xander was a crucial part of the Scoobies dynamic and it would have been a shame to lose him from Buffy. Maybe he could have done a few shows on Angel though. Him and Angel as a partneship was something left unexplored, but then they can't do everything😉

No and no. Xander was a douchebag who though he owned Buffy and tried to have angel killed. This annoying douchebag would had ruined Angel. Wesley who people thought was gonna be the xander of Angel turned out to be one of the best thing about Angel because he was the anti-xander.

Yeah again I think the pro-Angel camp gets a bit over senstive about Xander's actions towards him😉 Surely when you have done the sort of things Angel has in the past then why is it not reasonable for Xander to be concerned about Buffy and not wanting Angel back around. Part of his thinking is that it only takes a moment for the old Angel to return.

is Xander Buffy's arm, he is not even related to her. The guy is a douchebag who wanted Angel dead because of his past but when Anya when bad again he wanted to stop buffy, because you see, Xander owns buffy, he think he owns her. He wanted the love of her life dead but buffy must stop for xander's evil love. The guy cheated on cordelia, left anya on the altar, and constanly behaved like he was the authority of buffy, very creepy.
