Whendon obviously had ideas of what the future of AtS would bring. With his hopes that SMG would return for guest appearances as Buffy, I'm sure he had put at least some thought into whether or not the old couple would ever live happily ever after.
Now we know that AtS is coming to an end, and the story that should have been told might never get the chance to play out. Character development and important plots will be cut short and thrown out. This issue becomes even more serious and real when we take into account that SMG might refuse to appear at all before the series ends. If this is the case, then Angel, both the series and the character himself, will never get the closure that is deserved.
Do you think SMG will agree to appear? How do you think Angel will end, and what is in store for Angel & Buffy?
But most importantly: What if the story could continue?
Because all questions and answers might not be addressed by the Angel end date, do you think Whendon should or will create a straight-to-video sort of episode that will allow him to complete the story the way he wanted, without worrying about the cancellation? I think it would be a great idea, and an extreme nod to the fans and the cast.
