What exactly constitutes being a "slayer"? How human is a slayer? What makes them different from people and why is it that Spike is unable to bite Buffy? She's certainly not a demon, but also not strictly human either (due to slayer "blood")

Spikes not unable to bite buffy. remember the episode where they first had sex. he realised he could hurt her.

only read if youve seen season 6

How far are you into watching the series? Because most of your questions here will be dealt with in seasons six and seven, so i'm a little wary of spoiling upcoming stories for you.

They actually go through this later?
I'm starting season five tonight so I have a long way to go...

Yeah, like Wolf says, it gets extremely dramatic and the very nature of the slayer line and what it means to be a slayer is examined in season seven. Maybe not to the depth i would have liked but it's very good nevertheless. Specifically, Get it Done deals with exactly how the slayer line began, but you do have a while before you get to that episode.

I'd wait until you are through to the end of the show to see what questions you have about slayers. 😉

If I were you I would wait, cuz it will be such a good storyline to discover, but if you don't want it spoiled then just ask, but I would wait, it does address most of your questions!

A couple episodes in season five talk about Buffy specifically as a Slayer, but season seven really clears it up. One standout episode Get it Done will probably answer most of your questions.

It always been debated here about what makes a true slayer or a real slayer, so it's an interesting thing to debate about!
