What is Buffy: Ominbus???

First of all, I know this is not Omnibus board :lmao:

I wanna read it but I dont know what it's all about.

It's a rewrite of BtVS S1-7 or it's something new.

It's comics so I really wanna buy it but it's not that cheap, ya know. And I dont like the penciller that much.

Help me pleasseeee

The Buffy Omnibuses (there are... six of them now, I think?) are collections of the Buffy comics published by Dark Horse before the Season 8 comics started.

They are new stories set in the Buffyverse, not rewrites of the TV episodes. They aren't canonical except for "The Origin" (in Omnibus #1) which re-tells the story of the 1992 Buffy movie according to Joss Whedon's original script. (This is usually considered as Buffy's canonical origin story, until we get a more definitive version from Joss.)

There are several stories in each omnibus volume, by different writers and different artists. They vary in quality but a lot of them are good.

Yes I've got the first one and I had a good time reading it. 🙂 It's nice. Some of them are less good than others but I think I'll definitely buy the second one !

Oh gotcha. Thank u very much. Guess I gotta buy it. But I read some preview pages. There're some new characters, like in volume five, there's a girl named Felicia. These new characters arent so important, are they? And if I just wanna read Faith's part(vol.5), will I confused 'cuz I didnt read the first four volumes?

Yes its worth buying. I only got first two but def worth getting. I just got #1 on thursday there and its even better than the 2nd one. Most of the stories are well written and tie in nicely with the actual show. They're dear though, an omnibus cost more than a season on dvd. Isn't that insane? A silly comic costing more?

See, over omnibus 1 and 2 the stories 😱rigin, viva las buffy, slayer interrupted, stake to the heart and ring of fire: are the main arc, and its excellent. I'd rather get omnibus's than s8 or atf.

Personally, #1 was fantastic, the others I felt were really hit and miss. However, even when they missed...I'm enough of a Buffy fanatic to still read them over and over. I really wasn't a big fan of alot of the Spike/Drusilla stuff. Plus there are so many different artists, sometimes the artwork is kind of bad.

just got omnibuses 2-6, i'm still waiting for 1 and i've preordered 7.

I've starting reading 2 and its decent so far, Angel omnibus is a lot better so far though.

As I said, I already own Omnibus#1 and am currently considering buying the next ones... But are they worth it ? I kind of need a "Buffy" feeling, like when reading S8...
I'm asking your opinion, especially to those who had bought theirs when this thread was still active (DOLLHOUSE! ... hem... sorry.) and haven't posted their review yet. Thanks!

I enjoyed them. Nowhere near the overall quality of Season 8 or ATF, but there is some really good stuff in there. The Dawn stories, actually, are pretty good.

There are other buffy trades that collect some of the same stories, but the omnibus trades are much more enjoyable to read.
