i dont get it?

My guess would be the "keeping it fresh" idea.
The second one was the first complete boxed set while the first one appears to be a newer version.
If it keeps people interested in Buffy or get's new people interested in Buffy, I say more power to em!

TV DVDs are repackaged all the time. FOX is pretty much the reigning champion of this practice. Both the Buffy and Angel complete sets are being re-released in that wider packaging, long after the individual seasons were repackaged no less than three times:

-Original fold-out digipak boxes
-three double-disc slimcase sets with a slipcover
-the currently available multi-disc sets in a standard-sized DVD case.

The actual discs and content remain exactly the same, no matter what release you get.

When I was looking online about the box-sets, I found 2 as well and one seemed incredibly cheaper than the other. It also seemed by reading the descriptions the cheaper one was one disk less than the more expensive one which lead me to believe the more expensive one was the collector's box set and the cheaper one was the 7 season box set. Was my assumption not true?

I wanna see inside the top one, cause i currently have the second one... but if it other one is cooler..

I do that as well. I did that with Roswell to see the difference and to see which I thought was cooler.

Unless you're collecting for the sake of collecting, it wouldn't be worth the money to re-purchase an entire series for a packaging change.

well id probably sell the other one. I sold the individuals when I got it... so id probably do the same thing.

The Chosen Collection - which is the one you have - was designed to be a collector's edition, with the bonus DVD and the letter and all that. The Angel set didn't have a bonus DVD but it also included a letter. Since these two new sets don't come out until this upcoming Tuesday, there's no word on whether those letters and the Buffy bonus disc will be included.

From the size of the new box set cases, being wider like that reminds me of how "The O.C." complete series was packaged, which was in a wide picture / quote book with a clear plastic outer case.

hmm... well, not sure about angel, cause I dont have it/watch it, ugh..i wanna see inside the stupid thing.

I hope you correct that little oversight and watch Angel.

Don't compare it to Buffy, just watch it as it is a part of the same universe and adds so much more to it. You won't regret it.

To me (and this is my opinion) Angel is a more 'mature' show than Buffy. Buffy is and always will be my favorite show (and I am an awesome Whedonverse fan cause I just won the Masters of the Whedonverse competition in the usa). But the characters on Angel are living different lives. I am 28, so maybe it's my age, but I feel Angel is easier to relate to.

It's a fabulous show and should never be compared to Buffy. It's completely different, but still brilliant. I have seen the series a handful of times through. I am currently watching it again now, on season 4. If you try to get the same thing out of it that you get from Buffy, you're not going to enjoy it.

I have actually watched Angel more and the for the most part like it more. I will always love Buffy though because it is the show that started it all.
I just never cared for angel as a character as much, or a few of the other cast members, i have seen 2-3 seasons of Angel, and eps in other seasons, my mom watched Angel... I always related to Buffy better, i grew up with it, im 28 also. Its just an opinion tho, I have seen a LOT of Angel tho, honestly... just didnt get into it, i wanted to, it just didn't happen.
