Tsk, all this busting on "Superstar" just breaks my heart, lol. That episode is one of my faves.
Ok Boys and Girls.....time for another installment of "OLD MASTER'S FAN RANT".
::::hears the sound of chirping crickets:::::
Hmph! Ingrates..........😛 😛
As for which one of the eppies I thought was the worst, hmmm, well... a lot of people might disagree with me on this one.....but I really hated the "BUFFY VS. DRACULA" episode.
The writers could have done a much, MUCH better job with that story. So much potential there, just wasted. I'll only mention but a FEW of the things I didn't like.
I'll start with the small stuff.
Firstly, Dracula's makeup. It looked as if some disgruntled makup artist went up to the actor and yelled "MAKEUP!!!!!", struck him with an oversized powderpuff, and left it like that.
Dracula's fangs were ridiculous....they were oversized and puffed out the whole upper portion of his mouth like a set of cheap plastic Halloween fangs. I'm surprised the guy didn't sound like Daffy Duck!
Now, clearly we have here in Dracula one of the most powerful vampires ever, on par with The Master, with abilities very few vampires possess......but that is never really played up. In fact, they have Spike discount Dracula as some old rival with a few parlor tricks, totally diffusing Dracula's impact and aura.
In truth, I like the character of Spike a lot, but he could never rival anyone in Dracula's class except in the category of viciousness, and that is all.
Also, a character like Dracula, a great and classic literary figure which helped spawn all things vampire right up to "BTVS" and any current vamp projects, deserved a more involved story arc, needing multiple episodes much like The Master had.....perhaps even made him the Big Bad for one of the series' seasons.
To introduce and discard such a powerful and dangerous enemy in one swift, meeaningless filler episode was criminal, IMO.
And here is something that really pissed me off. Here we had a vampire who actually had the ability to COME BACK from being dusted, an unique ability by far, and the writers never even bother to explain HOW he was able to do that, just some cop out line from Buffy: "I've seen all your movies....you always come back".
Oh yeah, that clears it right up for the audience.
Anyhoo, that's my worst eppie pick.
