What is your fav vamp movie?

I love so many of these movies, it's hard to pick one! I think I'll go with Interview.....but Lost Boys, Underworld, From Dusk til Dawn and Blade SO rock!

Interview with the Vampire, though it's not that good. There aren't any really great vampire movies, in my opinion.

My husband and I recently watched The Wicker Man (the original, not the Nicolas Cage one), which is making me want to hunt down the Dracula movie with Christopher Lee in it, though. I hadn't realized he hadn't always looked like he does now. 🙂

That would be Dracula mov-IES, as Christopher Lee made several of them. 😛

But really Anne Rice's movies are much like the books, abismal and boring as Hell, I don't honestly understand how anyone likes them, Vampires? jesus overgrown children with fangs whining non-stop...

I voted Blade because i LOVE it, but it's on an equal par with John Carpenter's Vampires, Lost Boys and of course, Dusk Til Dawn (for comedy value!).

I've seen and enjoyed them all though!

There have only been two... and in my opinion, there is no comparison. Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned are as different as night and day. I thought Queen of the Damned was a horrible movie.

As for the abysmal boringness of the whiny vamps, well... I submit exhibit A: Angel. lol. Nah. If you're talking Interview, that's only part of the equation. Louis is like that, yes, but he is contrasted with everyone else, all of whom have a different take on things.

And believe me I can stand any amount of mopey-ness from Angel over the Rician Vampires any day. I mean come on, poor Lestat and his mummy ROFL less "The Vampire Lestat" more, "Oedipus the Vampire". The constant crying, moping, Emo drama scene to scene, book to book, ugh.

Kemy agrees: A.D. 1972 is just fine, watched it only the other day. You also forgot "Brides of Dracula" and "Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires" which are part of the series.

You're quite right, they are part of the series, but they didn't feature Christopher Lee. "Brides...." was only a sequel in terms of the direct character continuation of Peter Cushing's Van Helsing.

white avenger agrees: Lee also played Dracula for one scene on a Chinese chop sockey epic whose name escapes me at the moment.

That would be "Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires" (aka "The 7 Brothers Meet Dracula"), which Kemy mentioned above. But was that really Lee? I remember some other actor playing Dracula in that thing. But then, I haven't seen that movie in over 20 years, so you may be right.

Somebody mentioned earlier the classic "Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter". That was another good one from the nice folks at Hammer, and I was always sorry they never went ahead with the proposed sequels. It seems the wrong movies these days get a sequel.

Lost Boys for sure, that's an awesome movie. I don't like the style of Blade and Underworld, but Lost Boys is just awesome, can't wait for the new one!

Its a really close call between Lost Boys and Underworld. In the end I went for Underworld, mainly because I like the sequel and I love the involvement of werewolves and the history behind their war!

I'm gonna have to go with The Lost Boys, probably my favourite film period anyways! IMO, no Lost Boys, no Buffy.

"Dracula", 1931, with Bela Lugosi, running neck-and-neck (ahem) with Chris Lee in 1958's "Horror of Dracula" (And the "Spanish Dracula", filmed on the same set at the same time as Lugosi's, was in some ways better than the US version.)

"Nosferatu" was the overall creepiest friggin' vampire ever.

For original twists, I liked "Captain Kronos," it's a shame they didn't go anywhere with that.

"Twins of Evil" was a fun Hammer entry, and "The Vampire Lovers", with Ingrid Pitt, was probably the best film version of "Carmilla" ever.

For modern vamp films, "Fright Night" and "Innocent Blood" were both good. "'Salem's Lot" was over-rated, but the original TV-movie version was eleventy-seven times better than the remake.

I also enjoyed a lot of those old cheesy "D"-movies, like "The Playgirls and the Vampire." And we musn't forget the Mexican entries: "The Curse of Nostradamus", "World of the Vampires", "The Vampire"/The Vampire's Coffin", etc, etc.

I voted for "Interview With a Vampire". But I also love "Nosferatu", "Shadow of the Vampire", which is an alternate history film about the filming of Nosferatu, in which the actor who portrays the vampire is actually a vampire, "Queen of the Damned", which is quite different from "IWAV" but I like it anyway, and "Blade" and "Underworld".

"Underworld" is not a film I think is great necessarily quality wise, but I do like the story, the action, the characters, and of course Kate Beckinsale. It's more style than substance but I still love it. 🙂

I actually cannot watch anything else Vamp related apart from Buffy. It's really weird considering how much I adore the show but anything else doesn't hold an ounce of interest for me. I did read Dracula though. Good book😀

Lost Boys without a doubt! I enjoyed it so much more than Interview with a Vampire (maybe cause am not such a major fan of Brad Pitt).
