Mines is Conviction because it interests me the most out of out of them. Plus we've got to see Spike in the end.

I am slightly torn between Deep Down and City Of. I'll probably change my mind with my next re-watch but I'll go with City Of right now. To me, it sets up both the season, and the series, perfectly.

Deep Down.

It's also in my top five best episodes, it's just brilliant; it has everything. It's a great introduction to the season about to come and all the scenes do their job, Connor with Gunn and Fred, Angel's hallucinations, and I love how we get to see that, sure, Wesley has kinda lost his way a bit (sleeping with the enemy, slave girl in the closet) but he's still Wes and goes out of his way to save someone who, last time he saw him, tried to kill him. I can't even pick a favorite scene, cause there are so many good ones, like Angel hallucinating the dinner scene before it turns, or Wes and Justine on the boat having their talk before they find Angel, or Angel confronting Connor at the end and sending him away.

It's got one of the best quotes from the show, too; "Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh...and cruel...but that's why there's us...champions. It doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done, or suffered. Or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be. You're not a part of that yet. I hope you will be."

Deep Down. I find it great as an opener.
The title is fascinating & is also one of my favorite in the Buffyverse because Angel is buried deep down under the water & besides, Wesley (deep down) continues to care about his old friends (even if he denied it in the beginning of this episode).

I think Deep Down is a superb episode in a really awful season. I love City Of but it gets my vote

Big fan of deep down. Follows on so well from the disappointing finale that was tomorrow. It's actually my favourite opener in the whole buffyverse. A lot of suspense and Wes is fantastic.

Deep Down, though I’m not a fan of Angel’s champions speech. So much happens in this opener that it feels longer that it actually is.

I'm going to say Hearthrob. I like the way that they turn the romantic Vampire on its head by making James quite pathetic, whiney needy and hateful.

I love the way he and Elizabeth are evil, sadistic monsters who happily kill other people's loved ones, yet as soon as it happens to James he actually tries to get all moral about how evil Angel is for doing it.

Cordelia's great in this one too. Funny, brave and supportive. I love her sticking her tongue out at James.

I was torn between, Deep Down, Judgement and Hearthrob. I'm not really a fan of any of the Angel season openers, but I went for Hearthrob. I like the opening of season 3, I like setting up Holtz, and I like the concept of a vampire having their heart removed making them temporarily unkillable for a day. I think there's a lot in the Angel (Buffyverse) Mythology in here.

"Conviction" is the best. It serves as a soft reset for the series, and shows you how the Season is going to go, even if it tells you nothing about the plot. It also made me feel excited for the season, Angel shoots a gun in a guy's face, and Spike!

"Deep Down" is the craziest episode though.
