Theres something very special about season finales as we all hold our breath waiting to see how Buffy and co will despatch of the latest Big Bad!! Plus the Joss writing and directing factor is always a big bonus (except for Grave!)

Prophecy Girl - its the first finale and so is special in the way that Chosen is special because it is the last. I love Prophecy Girl. Xander having to save Buffy because Angel can't, Buffy in her dress, Cordelia and Jenny fighting with the Scoobies and Buffy's I'm 16, I don't wanna die. That really touched me.

Becoming is just so tragic! Even though I wasn't a big fan of Buffy and Angel it was still hard to watch them tear each other apart. It's horrible to watch Buffy sad and the end of the season has a very depressing note. The sword fight is pretty cool though and I love when Buffy grabs the sword thrust at her head. Willow also rocks in this finale - the real start of the magick which will be so important in the later years. Also seeing Jenny again is brilliant, even if it is only Dru in disguise!

Also great that Joyce finds out about Slayerhood and Spike and Dru survive! Although Kendra had only been a minor character I still found her death tragic.

Graduation Day - I love how the whole school works together. Buffy and Faith's fight is very intense and the dream sharing is great. I love that they blow up the school - every kids dream lol.

I think that even though Angel leaves, which was a good thing the season ended on a happy note. However I love how the consequences are addressed later on in the series with Larry dead, Faith awakening from her coma, Harmony sired.

Restless - I love Restless, especially the first time watching it and thinking wtf! I think that Restless has immediate appeal but is more of a slow burner style finale as something new can be understood every time it is watched. It really gets you thinking and questioning the meaning of dreams within Buffy and dreams generally.

The Gift is truly epic. It has everything. All characters excel. We get Buffy making the ultimate sacrifice (and looking at some of her most beautiful while she does it!) This episode also marked my appreciation for Dawn as she was prepared to make the utimate sacrifice. Afterwards I had respect for Dawn even when she was at her most annoying!

Spike was amazing when talking to Buffy saying he knows she'll never love him.

One of the most important things to me was Willow getting Tara's mind back because I wasn't sure if Tara would be back to 'normal'.

It was also very interesting yet disturbing to see Giles murder Ben and who cant love Xander and Anya in this episode.

The previously on BtVS was amazing and the teaser was perfect especialyy as it was nothing to do with The Gift!

Grave is my least favourite finale but the scene between Willow and Xander at the end is beautiful. It is also great to see Dawn swordslay. It's nice that after such a dark season that the season ends in a positive way. With Buffy and Dawn crawling at the grave and into the sunlight, Willow back to red and in Xander's arms, Giles surviving and Xander being the hero.

I do love that the season both begins and ends with Buffy coming out of a grave. First in horror and darkness but then in happiness and light.

Chosen is my favourite finale because after two years if darker stories it was great to have 'real Buffy' back. It was epic in every sense of the word and was a fitting end to the series. Every character was given screentime and at least one cool line! The reassertion of the female empowerment theme through all potentials becoming Slayers is beautiful and the destruction of one girl in every generation is breaking the rules in the most beautiful way!!

my best was Becoming Pt1+2, big B/Aer here...i loved this finale it was soo sad though watchin Buffy kill Angel...yes yes I cried well it was upseting...them final words Close Your Eyes...oooo they ripped through me then she put the sword in him n he wo shouting Buffy and she couldnt even look at him and when he wo gone she had realised what she had lost..wot was neva cumin bck...i thought the fight scenes between them two wo good and SPIKE! joinin her..my i was shocked. i thought it was also sad when Angel came back from being Angelus n he didnt have a clue what was goin on n he had like tears in his eyes n Buffy was like in shock...I cry evrytime i see it....::crying2:...🙁

It's a toss up between Becoming and The Gift for me.

The Gift probably wins in the end, partly because of the stunning musical score. Having said that, Sarah Mclaughlan's Full Of Grace playing at the end of the season two finale fit the mood perfectly. It really is a toss-up between them for me.

Restless

I actually like Restless (s4) because it broke the mould of finales (in any programme) having to be dramatic and something really big happening. I know that now some of the cryptic clues make sense but it wasn't like anyone died or anything, which i thought was good... And of course Giles singing (",) that was brill.

It was also kindof setting the series up for the next year and stuff.

That is my favourite finale ever (including s7) and im sticking to my guns.

(also Tara and Oz being "friendly" was good")

Its also hard for me to choose between Becoming and The Gift but I went with Becoming. I was so emotional during that episode, especially that ending. I loved the swordfight and her catching it with her hand, and then the end with Full of Grace playing was just so sad, plus its nostalgic for me, thats the season I got hooked on this show. The Gift was also incredible, Buffy's ultimate sacrifice. After those 2 my favorite would be Grave. Chosen was good but not in my top three as far as finale's go.

I liked Graduation best coz it was like the end of an era with Buffy finishing high school and Angel leaving. I liked the whole slayer fighting slayer thing as well and it was good how all the school came together to fight at the end.

I easily picked "The Gift." It's not just my favorite season finale, but also my favorite episode of all time! I cry every time I watch it... it's stunning. Buffy is my Christ!

Becoming & The Gift. Both so sad and such tear jerkers.. *sigh*
I loved both hard to choose just one.

chosen for def!!! i felt so proud watching the slayers all fight together and the end scence with spike just....i cant even describe how i felt.

Before I say anything else, AmberHannigan, that was a great post.

I've just seen Becoming, Parts 1 & 2 and that's got to be a favorite, as does Chosen--what a way to wrap up the show! I've got to confess to a real fondness to Restless as well--what a strange, dreamlike trip it was, and what an unusual way to end the season...

All Season Finales have been classics but my fave has got to be Grave followed by The Gift! 🙂

The GIFT

My Favourite was "the gift" because it was a true finaly in every sence. I loved how it pretty much came too a definite conclusion (as much as buffy ever could anyway) And the scenes between Buffy and Dawn are beautiful.

My second fav though is Restless because it so different to anything i had scene before on a final and it was so well written (the cheese man for ever lol)

i just need to add that personally i don't think Chosen came near to being the best...personally (this is just my opinion so don't bight my head off) the end of Buffy should of had a lot more focus Buffy and Dawn cause they are the Summers girls and where the magic of the show really lies. And poor Anya, its not that she died but its the way that she died which was so awful...with no reconision (or hardly any). She deserved better.

The end

I chose 'Chosen' a while ago, and that was before I saw it, i saw it last night and i loved it. I cried so much, okay i cried during the whole episode, but most of it was when they did and what they said to each other and the spike been a champion. But when they were running out of the school and Xander was looking for Anya, but didn't find her and we saw her on the floor, that meant that she was really gone. The fact that there are hundreds of slayers is fantastic and willow been the most powerful is great and her spell, and hair was great and the fact that she did it, it happening to her. I'm happy. Dawn's last line was great and buffy smiling to it was the best.

Each finale had something about it that was remarkable... even "Chosen." I can say that while by no means being a Season 7 fan.

The season finale I find to be the most rewatchable (and therefore the most enjoyable) is Season 6's "Grave." The Dark Willow arc was one of my most favorite story arcs in the show's history, and it really shows how deep and profound Xander's feelings are for his best friend in the entire world.
