What languages do you know?

Sorry if there's already a thread like this around here, but what languages do you know how to speak? And what languages do you want to learn?

Obviously, I know English, because it's the official language here in the US and I speak it everyday.
I'm on my 3rd year of learning French in school.
And I know alittle bit of Spanish.

I would like to learn alot of languages in particular like German, Finnish, Irish, and Greek.

I speak English and Irish. My Irish isn't at the level my English is, but I'm getting there. It's just hard to find the opportunity to speak Irish daily.

I took French for 6 years in secondary school, I haven't spoken it since I left but if I took a refresher course I think I'd be ok.

Just English here. I know a tiny bit of Spanish, but only a few sentences here and there. Nothing broad enough to have a conversation with. Anyways, I'd like to learn more than just English. (German, French, and Italian are the three I'd like to learn the most)

I speak Swedish, and also Hebrew. I know some English, enough to get by. I took Spanish lessons in school for like 4 years and the only thing I remember from that is por que?.
I would love to learn how to speak Russian, I think that's a really cool language.

English, obviously, and I'm trying to convince people that Northern Ireland have their own language, but no one seems to be buying it.

"Awk, have a bit a whit, will ya?" I seriously just said this about five minutes ago. Not sure many people will get it, lol.

Other than that, I took French for five years in high school, but that was ten years ago, so I have no idea if I can remember any of it, but I did do pretty well in my final, so who knows.

I speak a little Spanish, enough to get by if I'm in Spain at a restaurant or something, but not much beyond that.

English (obviously) and French. I studied French at uni and spent a year living and studying in France.

Since leaving uni I've let my French lapse. I can still speak, understand, read etc. the language but I know my grammar isn't as polished as it used to be. It's bad, really. :/

I know a little bit of Spanish from studying it at school, but even though I took it to A-Level it was one of my most hated subjects.

Well, I can read and write in French, but I'm not very good at speaking it and I hope I improve that. I've always wanted to learn Irish mainly because I'm 1/4 Irish and I've always been interesting in that culture.

But I heard that alot of European languages are hard to learn because of all the dialects and such, so I'm not sure how I'd do on alot of them.

Well, English is my first language, but I've been learning Indonesian for 3 years and French for 1.

English and Spanish well enough....very very little Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese....mostly Street Slang and Spanglish. 🙂

I know Croatian, English, Italian, German (not a lot, but I know it enough to talk and get by), Bosnian, Serbian, Slovenian, Slovakian, a little bit of Polish.. I know few words on French and Spanish, LOL. And like, few words on Japanese. I can also understand Russian, because it has some similarities to Croatian 🙂

I speak fluent German and English and everyday French. I also get by on Spanish and Italian but my pronounciation and grammar are most likely horrible, since I've never officially learned them. I can also understand Low German (which IS a separate language from German and actually very similar to Dutch and also almost dead xD), but I don't speak it.

I think my swedish and english are decent enough but I'd like to be better. I studied german for 5 years but now I wouldn't be able to get by with it. A lot easier to understand than to talk now. A little bit of spanish, some french and polish words, not so much in writing and dutch isn't always so far from swedish as you might think. Not that that I would claim to speak anything but swedish and english.

As a swede you're expected to understand norwegian and danish but I just don't. It's very shameful but the way it is. To me it's often like a foreign language so I'll mention it. I'm definitely not good at txt, chat and kewl talk. Which I probably showed by writing it like that. 😉

Taken it slow I can manage rövarspråket but not cary a conversation. I think that's about it.

LOL. It's not really that hard, since I love languages.

Croatian is my mother language, and Bosnian and Serbian are really similar to Croatian. I know Slovenian since I'm skiing in Slovenia for almost 10 years now, and I learned it 🙂 English is the language I learn from the first grade of elementary school, and I learn Italian since I started High School. I know German since I have family there, and I learn it for 2 years now in school. My grandma is from Slovakia and she talked on Slovakian a lot so she teached me the language since I was a kid, and I have some Polish roots, and I got interested in it so I took som lessons. I know Spanish from soaps, and I was there this summer, overall, I know how to get by.. it's same with French, and I think I'll take some lessons in French when I finish High School. About Japanese, I know like, 10 words LOL

My main language is French. I'm pretty comfortable with English, and I know some Māori thanks to a friend. 😛 I also know some words in Japanese, Spanish and German.

I always try to perfect my English, and I'd love to learn more languages if the opportunity arose.

Well, I started off with the Queen's English, started French at school and took that through to degree level, also did Latin and ancient Greek for five years (better at Latin than Greek), then in the last few years did a year of Russian at evening classes and a term of German this year (eventually dropped out for reasons of cost and illness- both mine and the tutor's).

In the last few years for holidays I've learned scraps of Italian, Czech, Lithuanian, Polish and Hungarian. Fortunately I've found a French conversation group which meets once a month so I've started going there- I can read French better than I speak it, because the language I did at university was mostly literary so I don't have that much informal vocabulary.

I had Latin and Greek in the two first years of High School too 🙂 I don't count it, cause I can't use it today, LOL 🙂

I know French (native language), English, Deutch, German.
I'm almost fluent in English, my Deutch is good enough to understand, but I have difficulties to talk, and German is quite similar to Deutch but a bit harder and I only had 3 years of German so it's quite basic. I've also learned Latin and Old Greek but I don't really put it in the languages category because 1) dead languages, 2) Who still speaks Latin nowadays, except the Pope?

I'd like to speak English perfectly, and being almost fluent in Deutch and German. I'd also like to learn Japanese (the few words and sentences I know are not enough to be able to have any form of conversation at all), Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, Russian and Greek (not the ancient, the Greek from now is what I want to learn)
If I could, I would learn every single langage in this world :tongue3:

I manage to get by fairly well in English, though I still have to look up words now and then, and, due to where I was stationed during my time in the Navy, I can understand Yankee after a fashion, but I've never been able to speak it worth a damn.

I'm not that good at languages to be honest. I studied italian, french and spanish in school, but understand very little of it today. Just basic stuff. Just swedish, norweigan and english for me. Also, I write a lot better in english than I talk it. 🙂
