They never really explained why it was Buffy's fault that the first decided to attack now, after she came back from the dead. Like the Oracle told Giles and Anya.
Does any one out there know what it was (officialy) or have any theories if there was no official word given. :toiletcla

I'd like to know this too.

You've been posting some intriguing threads...Thanks!
They only said by Buffy coming back it caused a "rip" in the Slayer line that made it vulnerable to being ended. What i'd like to know is WHY another slayer was never chosen? That first time Buffy was dead for like a minute and Kendra came into be, Kendra died and Faith came to be. This last death time Buffy was dead for 3 months and yet where was the slayer? Perhaps that was the vulnerability they are speaking about. :wilt:

Yea I always wondered why a new slayer never popped up. I mean that made no sense.

Yeah, i always thought of that. But since there was 2 slayers, Buffy and Kendra, wouldn't the slayer line power thingy (or whatever chooses the next slayer) try to correct itself and NOT pick a slayer so there's only one?

I think you're on to something...
I think Faith would have had to die to bring another Slayer.

I think the First attacked because of what you all are suggesting. When Buffy died, it was her time. She was supposed to stay dead. So when she was brought back, the balance between good and evil shifted. As you put it, the "good" was more vulnerable now. (Why vulnerable? I don't know.) Does any of that make sense?

If Buffy came back when she was supposed to stay dead, wouldn't that shift the balance so that good has the advantage? Because it'd be balanced without Buffy but Buffy comes back as a good guy and that increases the good guy's power(?) so...

I always have to explain this to people...When a slayer dies, another is called. They don't activate another, if they die again, cause the slayer was not meant to be reborn, because it breaks the balance in the world. As Joss explained it at a convention, a slayer is like a battery.I have some threads on the whedonverse, that explain this. The First was mad at Buffy because she was rebornv again, by her friends. That's why Anya felt guilty. She was not supposed to come back again.Only Faith can call another slayer, by dying. Not Buffy because she already died.Joss said a slayer's powers are like a battery.Ounce it's used up, you can't use it again. So when buffy activated another, nothing happend because she already used her battery.A slayer is not meant to be reborn, that's why Buffy didn't call another slayer after she died the second time.

way to go with the trying to talk down to people.:rolleyes2 On this board we all ask things that may or may not have been explained in other threads/ magazines/interviews just because you know the answer doesn't make you God. Sorry that you "always have to explain this to people" ::nopity:: If it's so tiring don't reply.

Yea no kidding. I wasn't at all aware of the reasons and this thread has been helpful but no need to be rude.

Sorry, if I hurt any of your feelings.I just wanted to explain it..Can you forgive me?I didn't mean it.

thanks XxSlayerxX. I knew why another Slayer wasn't called. But why did the first attack yeah no new slayer but that still doesn't explain how it became vunerable (Sorry if it has been explained maybe i don't get it)

Let's just make up our own reasons and maybe some day they'll make sense.

I don't really understand how it would make the slayer line vulnerable either. I mean, surely 2 slayers is better than 1? Perhaps the power that is inherited by the chosen one had to be split. Maybe that's it.

Oh, maybe. Like between Faith and B?

I think that the "rip" was connected more to the fact that once one thing happened that wasn't meant to, others were more likely to happen. On Angel they mentioned "an impossible birth to make one possible." I think that a similar thing happened in Buffy--once one impossible thing happened (Buffy being brought back) it made it that much easier for the second impossible event (the First taking over) to occur.
