It's rare to find something that you're totally alone about, but is there anything about you that's not very common among Buffy fans? Or maybe I should say that you think makes you stand out. This thread might show that more people have things in common with you than you though.

I don't care for vampires. At all. If a character is interesting it's interesting no matter if they're vampires or not. The only movie I've watched because it had vampires in it is Vampires suck and besides Buffy related books I haven't read a single vampire book aimed at teens or older.

I'm not into horror movies. Kind of goes hand in hand with with the previous one I guess. This doesn't mean that I never watch horror movies. But in general I prefer other genres.

I like Dawn. A lot. I want to defend her as if she was my own little sister.

I don't mind Kennedy or her relationship with Willow. I don't deny that Kennedy has her faults or that Killow doens't come close to the awesomeness that's Tillow. But everything isn't black or white.

Connor is far from my favourite character but I think he gets way more crap than he deserves too.

The more I watch the less I like Faith in Btvs. I love her in Angel but in Buffy I find her annoying most of the time.

I like the idea of the potentials. Their story wasn't told the best way and at expence of the main characters. But I see nothing wrong about the idea.

I know I'm not alone in this but I prefer Cangel way more than Bangel or Spuffy. It could have been amazing.

Bufy season 6 is one of my favourite seasons.

I like the idea of Dark Willow but the character just leaves me bored.

This I'm not sure about but it can be fun to see what you guys think. I'm not a fan of Tim Burton.

I might add something more later but now I want to hear what makes you stand out. Because there's something right?

Season 6 karma!!
I actually like vampires, even outside of Buffyverse. But I agree, sometimes it's so good, I forget BtVS is a vampire show.

I like horror movies, but they're not my favourite genre.

I don't like Dawn.

I don't like Kennedy.

I don't think anything about Connor.

The more I watch, the more I like Faith.

I really don't like the idea about potentials.

I don't prefer Cangel over Bangel, but I prefer it over Spuffy.

Buffy season 6 is my least fav season.

I like Dark Willow.

I'm a fan of Tim Burton. Not big, but I'm a fan.

You're funny.
Nice thread idea. 🙂 Things that might make me different?:

I have little to no respect for Joss Whedon. I like his work but I have serious with issues with him and what he 'stands for' and the way he handles certain things.

I have more to say to criticise the show than praise it sometimes, (or most of the time) lol. I'm actually okay with that but it may seem odd to others.

After season three (four at a push, I guess) the show becomes something so far from what I fell in love with (save for Faith and Giles) that I barely watch it nor get involved with discussions about it.

I don't like Buffy herself past season four, at all really.

I don't like Tillow or Dark Willow.

And finally, one that really seems to chuck me into the minority box all alone (apart from maybe one other person 😛) I really, really don't like Spike. Season 2 saves him from being hated by me, lucky for him! I can't currently think of another TV character I can't stand other than Spike. I like Dan Scott more than I like Spike! 😛😛

I love these kind of threads, they are so therapeutic! lol

EDIT: Did I get confused about the purpose of this thread? lol I thought we were supposed to share our things but then PB confused me by responding to yours, so was that the idea?...seriously, it's been one of those days.

Oh oh! Am I in the minority box too? Also, I agree. I have more time for Dan Scott than Spike.
  • I love Btvs Season 6.
  • Ats S4 is my favorite season.
  • I love spuffy yet I don't like Spike. Or Buffy.
  • I don't like Vampire.. Things? 😛
  • I don't like Horror.
  • I liked Kennedy.
  • I liked Dark Willow.
  • I liked the Jasmine arc.
  • I like every Fred-centered 'ship. Including Fred/Angel.
  • I love later!seasons Willow.
  • I loved Buffy in Season 7.

And that's all I can think of right now. 🙂

More season 6 karma!!
* I love Connor.

* I love Dawn.

* I've never been a huge fan of any tvseries the way I am with Btvs. I don't know if that makes me different, but I since I started hanging here I've noticed that many of you hang out at other forums too and like other shows as much as Btvs/Angel. I haven't, really. This is the first forum I've been a part of. I like shows, but I don't LOVE them the way I love Buffy.

* I don't like the vampire genre, I don't like the horror genre.

* Cangel> Bangel, any day for me. 🙂

* I love Spuffy, but I don't think they belong together.

* Oh, and I know I'm not alone in this, but it is a little unusual at least: fuffy. I love, love, love Fuffy. I think they would've been great together. And not at all in some "hot girls together" sort of way, I really think they would make such a great couple.

* I don't like Xander. I really don't HATE him and he has some great moments, but I think he's mean and sexist most of the time.

I agree with the 3rd point too!
I hate Joss Whedon, and not in a "I hate him for killing Tara" kind of way, I don't like him as a person. I love his shows, the mans a genius. But I hate him.

I'm one of the biggest Cangel fans ever. They are my reason for being in the Buffyverse.

I don't like Faith because she's hot and a cool villain. I love her because she's really a damaged and vulnerable girl.

Season 2 is my least favorite season of BTVS and I find it incredibly boring until Innocence, and even after that there are only some episodes I really enjoy. I almost gave up the series first time around because I was so bored.

I have three ships for Angel and none include Buffy 😛

I hate Fred practically more then any other character in the whole series (including Kennedy)

I like Cordelia's hair in every season except for the end of season 3.

I prefer Season four of Angel over Season 5 of Angel anyday.

After Cangel, Wesley/Lilah is my favorite relationship on Angel. I wanted them to get back together and I was so sad when she died. I also HATE Fresley with a passion.

Last but not least, after what the comics have done to Angel's character I now wish the story will end with him dying. They're never going to let him go. If he were on his own comic fine, but he's not so I want them to kill him and stop ruining him.

I agree with the "stop ruining Angel!" theme
That's an interesting thread!

I think Buffy belongs with no one. I'm not a fan of Bangel, because I think she loved Angel more than he loved her; Spuffy is nice but she doesn't love Spike as much as he loves her; Briley is just very unBuffy.

I'm not sad when a show like Buffy ends. It ended great, and it's better than letting it last longer and lose his greatness.

Beer Bad is one of my favourite episodes.

I so don't think Xander was being a jerk when he said to Buffy "kick his ass" in Becoming or when he was mad at Buffy in Revelations.

I wouldn't have mind if season 5 had been the last one.

I don't hate Connor.

After a rewatch, I don't hate Dawn either. I even sometimes thinks she's cute and funny (like when she offered Tara a broom on her birthday, I was like "Go Dawn, go!"

I always thought that Spike was going in the desert to remove his chip.

I'm not a Fred fan.

I think Wesley didn't exactly lose his cuteness when he became Y.U.M.M.Y. He's not as quirky as he used to be but he still has that adorableness.

I think Spike is actually a big loser most of the time (which is why I love him so much).

I don't like Lindsay Macdonald. Lilah is thousand times better.

I'm not a Faith lover outside of Angel.

I do not hate season 7 Buffy and don't find her too bossy or annoying or superior-like.

I think season 4 of Buffy is actually a good one.

I think that's about it!

I don't hate s7 Buffy either!

I thought Spike wanted his chip removed, too! Ha, I guess we're the only ones. :)
I hate Riley...oops everyone does

Season 7 was the worst..might be another oops

More of an Oz fan over Tara..however when they started showing kissing, etc...Tara took the lead

Willow and Giles pissed me off in later seasons..no hate just PO'd

Angel sucked in Buffy except when he was Angelus ofcourse

Anya was funny but didn't care about her relationship with Xander

OMWF is the worst episode of the show (I'm gonna catch heat for this lmao)

All i could think of right now...

Oh and I don't care for Tim Burton either

lol at the riley comment :D
I am not really sure what passes for "different" but there is a lot of stuff I agree with here:-

I'm one of the biggest Cangel fans ever.

I like Dawn. A lot. I want to defend her as if she was my own little sister.- I hated her at first, but by the end. Just huggy maternal feelings and I am not generally mushy.

Buffy season 6 is one of my favourite seasons.

And an original one (maybe, like I said I am not sure). The more I watch the more I like Reilly.

Hmm I think that may it.

Cangel and s6 karma :D
- I like Riley.. mostly season 4 Riley, but if they gave him a chance to change, I would like him as much as I did in the season 4.

- I loved Spike when he was the big bad, then just stopped caring for him.

- I don't think I would be satasfied if The Gift was an end.

- Season 6 is my least favourite episode ever.

- I actually like Go Fish.

- I don't like Tillow or Killow.

- I liked Buffy's hair in S2 and S3.

  • I prefer the friendship in the show over any 'ship.
  • I never really liked Giles.
  • I liked Kendra. And her accent.
  • I thought that Wes was awesome in Btvs S3.
  • Not really a fan of any Xander-centric 'ships.

Apart from that he made Btvs and Ats of course.

Ok...I don't have many different things from other fans..but let's give this a try.

-I appreciate the character of Faith but I think we're better off without her (people are gonna kill me I know)

-If The Gift was the ultimate ending, I'd be a little disappointed

-I LOVE the majority of Tim Burton's movies (LOL)

-I enjoy season 7

-So far, I'm SO not a Fred fan. Annoying.

-I really hate season 6

-Maybe this is not a stand out but I prefer Buffy, as a TV Show, over Angel. BIG time.

Totally agree about the Gift!
What makes you different to most Buffy fans?

Unlike any Buffy Fan I've ever met, I spend a great deal of time re-creating those difficult or impossible to find props that are seen on Buffy and Angel.
I tend toward the "Mystical" type items for the most part but also enjoy identifying, locating and collecting most of the "found" weapons that were used on both shows such as Faith's and Willow's Knives from Buffy and The "favorite sword" from Angel.

I have identified screen used props from Buffy for people who own them but want to know which episode they were used in.

My most recent prop re-creation completed is the Angel Shanshu Scroll and Case and I owe a big shout out to KittyArcade for her help with the scroll in that project.(Thank-you Kathryn!)

I like Vampire's but I also like all the diversity of types of creatures that were brought to the screen on Buffy and Angel and am completely mystified when I hear someone say they thought the make-up's on either of those shows was poorly done.
(It's usually said by someone who never really watched either show)

I dislike Joss Whedon in some way's such as in his failing to live up to his promise to take Angel to another network rather than to see it canceled and for his creation of Firefly which I find moronic and completely warmed over.

I am definitely NOT a "Brown-Coat" or one of those Whedon-o-phyles who thinks Joss can do no wrong.

I despise the character of Dawn as well as the "actress" Michelle Trachtenberg.

I don't like Kennedy.

I don't care much for Faith but liked her more in Season Seven of Buffy.

I find that there are a number of episodes of Buffy written by Marni Noxon that seem overly cruel towards that character.

I'm not an active supporter of any "ship", but I rather like "Royce".

I was an apprentice to a Hollywood Make-up Man for ten years and with prosthetic gelatin/silicone appliance make-up have recreated a number of Buffy Creatures such as Angelus, Spike, Lyle Gorch(for a friend) and The Master.

I watch Buffy and or Angel Daily!

Not liking Dawn or Kennedy is not unusual in any way. ;) And I think you should call them Whedonites. Browncoats is more about Firefly. Even if many of them love Joss.

The "actress" Michelle Trachtenberg! hahahah
First and foremost since this relates to fandom specifically, and it's not limited to this forum but ALL of Buffyverse fandom:

I can't stand the idea of "Shipping". In fact, I can't stand that word at all.

Bangel, Cangel, Spuffy....all of those combo-word acronyms are the biggest pet-peeve I have about Buffyverse fandom.
I think those non-words are unbelievably stupid to say and to spell.
I don't use short-form for texting or MSN Messenger, I use full words. That's a big part of why I hate these acronyms because they not only look and sound stupid, but I just say to myself whenever I see them "just spell the f**king words out, it's not that hard". None of this "2 bad 4 u" nonsense. I'd rather see someone with terrible spelling make the effort than do that.

At the same time, my dislike of "shipping" has nothing to do with those. It's an entirely separate issue:

I don't like the shipping idea because all it does is create not only fan conflict, but an incredible bias and a series of absolute, either/or thinking taken to an extreme that is just tiring and annoying to have to put up with. That bias overrides all reason at times, which seems to be the sole reason a fan likes something, or dislikes something. It's completely ridiculous. (White Avenger insulted me by saying I was ridiculous because I thought the shipping concept itself was ridiculous when he made it a point to bombard a new member with the shipping slogan he has as a signature...)

Well, if he reads this now he knows why I think it's ridiculous. I don't think he is ridiculous, but for him to think I am just proves my point.

The extremes are so unreasonable and all they do is create reasons to love something and hate something - usually the latter. Willow and Tara, fine. Willow and Oz, fine. Shippers seem to be more like: Willow and Tara, NOT Willow and Oz, or Buffy and Spike, NOT Buffy and Angel.
That self-imposed need to love one OR the other, love one, HATE the other, and everything it stood / stands for, is just too unreasonable for this fan.

I have no preference for these relationships on either show, one way or another. People don't live in absolutes, so there's no reason for characters to either. People move on, change and that's realistic. Shipping isn't when it does nothing but start arguments and give excuses to bash something. Kind of pointless in having conversations when such a strong bias exists. Personally, it makes me want to forget the whole thing and go elsewhere.

I suppose that's more than enough for me to set me apart from other Buffy fans, and I make no apologies for it. "Ship" all you want, fine. Just don't expect me to adopt that extreme either / or attitude that seems to go along with it.

There is when you were insulted by that member without reason.

Couples are a big part of Buffy. Firstly, because Joss showed it in a realistic way. There is no happy ending, not always. Most shows are all about happy ending, and that's ok, I even like that.. but that doesn't happen, not to everyone. Some are lucky enough to experience that, but most of people are not. Joss showed us.. the thruth, not the fantasy. Secondly, Buffy's boyfriends were a big part of her life, and to one point, they showed us that part of her she was affraid to show us herself. Angel, Riley, Parker, Spike.. they all thought her one big lesson. And it's not all about Buffy, there are Xander, Willow and Giles too.. we learned a lot about their point of views and some other things trough their relathionships.

I can understand that some people don't like get into 'ship wars or talk about them at all, but some of us actually like that, because we think they're big part of Buffy as a whole. There's no need to call it silly, or whatever, because that's something we belive in and enjoy.

You both completely understand my point and are taking it the wrong way at the same time.

Everything you have just said is true and fine, and is exactly how things ought to be. I call it silly and ridiculous because of a point you didn't mention here in your reply but was the whole point of my saying all of this - the extremes people go to. The either / or, the one or the other. That's where the problem is, not in talking about the relationships themselves. They are realistic, but the extremes that the fans go to by loving one and hating the other instead of accepting both or having some kind of fair balance, is unrealistic because it ends up affecting how they see other elements, other stories.

Here's an example:

Oz and Willow fans that hate Tara, and their relationship. Why? Because they are Oz and Willow "Shippers". Spike fans who hate Angel just because they are Spike and Buffy "Shippers". That's the kind of extreme I'm talking about and that is what is ridiculous about to me.
