What makes you different to most Buffy fans? - Possible spoilers

Please don't shoot me but I think I'm different from most Buffy fans because:

I simply HATE Dawn.
I'm indifferent to Xander. I can take him or leave him.
Same deal with Tara. She just never grew on me.
I never liked Doyle or Gunn.
I love Buffy but there are times when I didn't. Especially when she crossed over to Angel.
I can't stand Harmony
I don't like Willow past season 6 and Buffy for that matter.
I disliked Connor...til season 5
I found Fred's death way overrated and Cordy's death underrated
I never liked Faith but now I love her
I perfer Cangel over Spuffy and Bangel

I don't think you're in a minority when it comes to that. Just that the ones disliking him has more to say about it. Since not having a particular feeling one way or another doesn't mean hate but neither mean love. As a person.

Maybe we need a "What do you love about..." thread? I just think that when it comes to things that make you stand out it's easier to say things you don't like, and that mean that the mayority do like it. They just can't express it in that kind of thread. If people thought more negative about the shows than postive I doubt there would be so many Whedon related sites everywhere, including this one.

I hate Riley more than words can say.

I don't really mind Dawn, I don't know why everyone moans so much.

Lorne was a really cool character.

I didn't like Bangel, but I did like Cangel. Spuffy was the best though.

Smile Time was one of the best Angel episodes ever.

I hate Killow and Kennedy.

Tillow was awesome, and it was so terrible when Tara died.

I love it when they have a flashback episode.

Once More With Feeling was too cool for words.

I think Giles is annoying in the later seasons.

Wesley is such a great character, I love his character arc over the seasons of Angel.

I really liked Jenny Calender, and it was sad when she died.

It was AWESOME at the end of season 3 with the school explosion.

Connor gets more crap in his life than he deserves, but I still find him annoying.

I hated how Charisma Carpenter's pregnancy was worked into the show.

I don't like Lindsay because he's boring. Lilah's way better.

I don't get Fred in Angel. First she loves Gunn, not Wesley. Then their relationship fizzles out. Then she decides she actually preferes Wesley. wth? does anyone get this?

I wish that Buffy had a birthday in seasons 1 and 7.

Seasons 7 and 4 kinda sucked for me.

I wish we saw more of Darla in none flashback form in Buffy.

The worst episode of Buffy EVER!!! ...is Beer Bad 🙁

I think mainly that over the vast majority of fans, "Empty Places" still remains my favorite episode of the series.

I love Cander to death and feel it's vastly overrated.
I don't like Giles much at all after S5.
I think Buffy is at her best during S7.

I don't think most people hate Joss (the majority's probably just indifferent), it's just that the haters are way more vocal about it. I don't hate Joss, I've never met the guy and know little to nothing about him, and I plan to keep it that way. But, I judge him by his work. I'm a fan of his stuff, but that doesn't mean it's above scrutiny. There's some problematic stuff in his shows and I think it's good when people discuss it and call him on it. Doesn't mean they're not means of Buffy and Angel or whatever else Joss does.

I love Buffy beyond words. I think she's the best character on the show, and I'm personally offended when people call her self-righteous or whiny. Irrational, I know, but as Oz would say... As Buffy goes, so goes my nation.

I didn't like Evil Faith, but in all fairness, I don't think we were supposed to. I have a tendency to root for the heroes and the underdogs, no matter how awesome the villains are, lol. I absolutely loved her before she went evil, when she was on Angel, and on Season 7 BTVS though.

There honestly isn't one season I dislike. I have favorites of course, but I love them all in different ways. 🙂

This last bit mostly consists of personal thoughts that I've kept to myself for a while now, so you can ignore this if you want. I've just felt a little alone in my opinion of the show from a feminist perspective.

I've read a lot of meta that claims Buffy isn't a feminist show, Whedon's a misogynist, etc...but I disagree. As a feminist myself, I'm posting this opinion because I know it's very unpopular among my peers. Buffy is an incredibly complex and sophisticated show...at some points, they do subvert female narratives for male characters', but that doesn't necessarily make it unfeminist. The mythology of the Slayer is rooted in patriarchy, but that doesn't make it unfeminist- it makes it true to gender politics through the course of Western history, which for the most part IS rooted in patriarchy. It's what women do with their power now that matters. I loved "Chosen" because of what this meant, and I think Buffy absolutely made the right choice. It's true that those girls didn't ask for that destiny, but she gave them a mission. A hard, scary, but ultimately beautiful mission. I love her for it.

Lorne was a great character, wish he was used more.
I really dislike Riley and he was a poor excuse of a boyfriend
Lilah was way better than Lindsey at being evil.
I think OMWF is very overrated. Its got some great singing but the plot leaves me cold
I hate Kennedy and Killow. Worst. Couple.Ever.
I hated Joyce in the first episode of Buffy. She really didn't trust Buffy and never gave her the benefit of the doubt.
I didn't like any of the characters in season 6! This is one of the reasons why I hate season 6 so.
I love Wesley to bits.
I don't get Fred.

I am upset.... because today, people look at my Buffy Tatt and say "OOOO it's one of those twilight freaks" who loves vampires, who wants to be a vampire... and watches vampire diaries...Ok I love tru Blood, but My point is Buffy is more than just "vampires" to me. I watched it since I was in 4th grade and it helped me get through my really rough life as a child. It's about being strong, fighting your demons, standing up for whats right, love, its just so much deeper than vampires. every struggle the characters goes through I can associate that struggle with an issue in my life and the show just helps me build up the strength to solve or deal with those problems, i don't know if that is weird or not, but its like listening to empowering music or something. I honestly don't know what I would do with myself if I did not have buffy since I was a kid. Thank you Joss!!

- I think Tabula Rasa is overrated. It is a great episode, but there are better.
- I loved Willow more before she was gay. I have nothing against gays, I'm not homophobic or something, this is about her character more then her sexuality.
- I love early seasons Buffy more.

I totally understand, I've already met people who thought like that. Or just "this show seems so lame, a tiny blonde who fights evil, it's just so ridiculous". So I became kind of aggressive, sometimes I have something to say, who comes from Buffy and I tend to be like "That's something I heard in Buffy-and it's a pity because people judge it as stupid while really it's an amazing show, very human, very deep, and really the vampires and monster are like a tiny part of the plot and it pisses me of that people don't even give it a chance...So haem, like I saw in this amazing show, blah blah blah, you know?" (Once a friend answered me "Easy, hun, I'm watching OTH, I'm not gonna judge 😛").

So...Sorry, I lost my point. I totally understand the way you feel, I don't know either where would I be without Buffy! It really shaped me into what I am today, it made me become a better person and it helped me a lot in times of crisis. No matter how fictionnal she is, Buffy is my hero.
