We have a "What Makes You Leave" thread, but how about what made you sign up in the first place?

Why do you sign up to places?

Are you here because of a referral?

Have you been here since BtVS was on air?

How did you find BB?

Did you lurk on the forum as a guest for a while, before deciding to sign up?

Or did you see it, think "huh, that sounds like somewhere I'd like!" and sign up anyway, because hey, if you make a couple of posts and decide you don't like it, it doesn't matter.

I came here after doing google searches re: BtVS, after doing an online rewatch. I got directed here more often than not, and thought that some of the insights were interesting, and some were amusing.

I thought that they were the kind of people I'd like to talk to.

And boy, was I right 😀

I was originally referred here by a friend if memory serves me right (It's been a while lol) because I loved BTVS. I stayed cause I liked it here. Yes BTVS was still airing on season 6 I think 🙂
 
Well, I signed up because I've heard, through good friends in the U.K, that Clairebear [MENTION=11317]Cast No Shadow[/MENTION] is so cool, so I signed up, hoping I could meet the famous Claire and become besties! 😀............(pretend I didn't say besties. God, my generation's speak is slowly sneaking into my vocabulary! Help me please!)

No seriously, my love for Buffy drew me here. I regularly google "Buffy" to see what comes up, and I so happened to find Buffy Boards. But I was on another forum, so I didn't want to sign up with another one just yet. But the other forum started to bore me, and it wasn't as active and fun as I wanted it to be, so I signed up here, and 400 something posts later, I'm in love with it. And to be honest, once you sign up, the people here make you stay. Once you post in the "Check In" thread, you guys immediately shower people with love and respect. You're all so friendly here, and that's the main reason why I keep coming back. 🙂

I signed in Buffy-Boards (which is except Facebook and Twitter the only forum which I use) because it looked interesting and easy to handle while I was searching for Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I was searching for a forum because I wanted to share and hear other oppinions on BTVS and Angel because I have no real life friends who even know what Buffy is! Glad I grounded here! This forum is so awesome!

I join a forum because it has a specific theme of interest to me. When I found BB, I was looking for aa highly active Buffy forum. I looked around here for a while before joining and loved the organization of the placeand that the members seemed so nice. 🙂
For me, a forum has to be fairly active, well-organized, and a great member base to make me join and stay. BB has all these things, which is awesome. :d

I signed up in 2008 but I never posted anything until a couple of months ago...can't remember why I signed, guess all of you sounded Buffy-crazed just like me! 😀 But I know I came back because only here I could have some quality Buffy talk with cool people 🙂
 
Honestly, it was curiosity. I came across BB while searching for something in the web and it looked interesting so I lurked around for a bit then decided to sign up. At first I just lurked because I found these boards overwhelming but after a couple weeks I decided to post and I haven't been able to stop since then. 🙂 This is really the only forum I am active on, but if I were to join another one I would look for one that was active and had decent members.

Totally lurked hardcore. And it seemed like everyone was nice, even in debate, so I joined. And then I was still really too shy to say much for a while, and then got off of here for a bit because of that. But then, my love of Buffy took over all my shyness and now I'm here all the time, posting about anything and everything. 😀
 
Well, I was thinking about why I never stick around on other forums. I realized it was because I sign up for things that I don't really like to discuss haha. Like Brass Goggles, for example. Steampunk is awesome but I mostly just look at the awesome pictures/videos when I go on there because I don't feel comfortable talking about it.
Those guys are total experts.

There is nothing that I love more than Buffy (except maybe cheese...hmm, is there a cheese appreciate forum??) and I feel comfortable discussing it because I've seen all 144 episodes about a kajillion times each (perhaps I'm exaggerating) also, you guys are lovely 🙂 if you were all a bunch of jerks I would have packed my bags a month ago!

I'm not sure how I found this particular forum though...google I guess. I finally signed up because I recently realized just how incredible Buffy is. It's been my favorite show since...forever, but I didn't truly appreciate the it until I read Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy. I was also sick and tired of trying to discuss Buffy with my friends...who aren't fans of the show haha. I don't know anyone, not one person in real life, who knows enough about Buffy to have an actual discussion about it.

I also didn't lurk at all! I just jumped right in. I usually do some hardcore lurking...but I just had a good feeling about BB 😀

For some reason I googled Buffy Board, instead of forum or whatever, and this is the first place that popped up. Had a good look through and saw it was well organised and had lots of discussion, so it didn't take long for me to sign up.
 
After I finish watching/reading something really really good, I always search it up online. Couple of interesting links I found were from BB, so I checked out the site in general. There were some interesting discussions going on that I thought I could contribute to, plus I saw how friendly everyone was, so I signed up.

Actually, I was just surfing the net one day, and I stombled upon this site. What attracted me to it was that there was this crazy Irish girl spouting off some kind of outlandish propaganda about Bangel, and I just KNEW that I couldn't stand idly by and let that go unchallenged. What has kept me coming back is that I came to respect, then even like that crazy Irish girl, and all of the other crazy people who visit here. Because we're all a little bit crazy, right? We're here celebrating a TV show that ended years ago, discussing the life, loves, and antics of a bunch of fictional characters, when we could be out saving the world. Pathetic. But, to fall back on an old cliche', the place has become an actual part of me, and I ain't givin' it up without a fight.''

Plus, if I should ever leave, who would stand up for Spuffy rights against that crazy Irish girl?

I joined so I could talk with people when I was doing my rewatch and the people here locked me up cause I was going to bounce after the rewatch and i'm still here 2 yrs later :O
